How To Enable Developer Options On Galaxy S10 Easily

Updated on

It’s been a few months since the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S10. Those who bought it earlier will have explored all its features by now. However, there are still a few tricks many would not know about, but to access them, users will have to enable developer options on the Galaxy S10.

What are developer options?

Developer options are not a new thing. They allow tech-savvy users to get even more out of their devices. As the name suggests, these are the options that are available to developers to test their apps. As can be expected, they are hidden deep inside your phone to ensure that everyday users don’t accidentally tweak something they are not sure about.

Most of the developer options are not in plain English, but if you know what you are doing, then they can help you customize your Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10e. By enabling the developer options, Galaxy S10 users can access features such as GPS spoofing and faster animations. They can also allow users to keep their device’s screen awake all the time, even while charging, and customize animations or DPI, which is the size of the on-screen content.

If you enable developer options on the Galaxy S10, it won’t void or cause any issue with the warranty of your device because the developer menu is built into the phone. However, using it unknowingly can negatively affect the performance of your device. This is the primary reason why smartphone makers keep it hidden from most users.

How to enable developer options on Galaxy S10?

To enable developer options on the Galaxy S10, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your handset and scroll down to the bottom where you will find the “About Phone” section.
  2. Tap on “About Phone” and then select the “Software information” section.
  3. Now scroll down until you find “Build number,” which will be about halfway through the “Software information” screen.
  4. Tap on “Build number” seven times or until you get a pop-up to enter the device’s PIN, password or gesture. Once you enter it, you will get a message saying, “Developer mode has been turned on.”
  5. Now go back to the primary “Settings” screen, where at the bottom below the “About Phone” section you will a new “Developer Options” listing.

You can easily remove the “Developer Options” listing as well. To do so, just clear the cache of the Settings app within the Apps list. To clear the cache, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open the apps list.
  3. Select “Settings.”
  4. Tap on “Storage.”
  5. Then select “CLEAR cache.” This will automatically remove the developer options

Before you start to play with the developer options, it is suggested that you keep track of the changes you make. If any change leads to an unfavorable result, you should be able to undo it quickly.

What all you can do?

Now that you have enabled the developer options, you can now activate several features that only developers have access to.

The first option that could interest you is Customize Animations. It will allow you to customize animations while the phone is in use. With this option, you can also change the extent and duration of animations. Shortening the duration will result in the phone working faster. You should not disable the animations completely because it will result in a degraded user experience.

To customize animations, open the Settings app and then choose “Developer Options.” Now look for “Transition Animation scale,” “Animator duration scale” and “Windows Animation Scale.” Tap on each of these options and change the default value to 0.5X. Now exit the menu.

By setting the value to 0.5X, you have reduced the duration of the animations. Such a change will improve both performance and responsiveness. Moreover, you can adjust this value to a value that suits you.

Another feature in the developer options that might interest you is faking your GPS location. You can set any location around the world and use it to fool your friends and family. To use this feature, you will have to download an app from the Play Store. There are plenty of such apps available on the Play Store.

After you have installed one of these apps, go to the Developer Options and tap “Select mock location app.” Now select the app that you downloaded. That’s it! Now go to the fake location app and fool your friends. This feature also allows you to access any services that require your location.

There is something for gamers in the developer options as well. Once you enable developer options on the Galaxy S10, you can also improve the overall gaming experience. There is an item under developer options called “Force 4x MSAA,” which can direct the GPU chip to give visuals at the highest possible rate in games. To improve your gaming experience, all you have to do is enable this feature.
