Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) spoke with FOX Business Network’s (FBN) Melissa Francis about his reaction to the negative New York Times article about the Tesla Model S. Musk said that the Model S was getting numerous positive articles, but “writing one more article that reaffirms that doesn’t get any clicks.” Musk went on to say that writing a negative article after lots of positive press “gets attention,” and there was a “pretty obvious motivation” when writing this article.

On the reason behind the New York Times’ negative article on Tesla’s Model S:

“I think there is a pretty obvious motivation. Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) received one positive article after another. The press has been tremendously positive. Writing one more article that reaffirms that doesn’t get any clicks. That doesn’t get any attention. But writing an article with a picture of a car on a flat day, that gets attention.”

On what Elon Musk would like the New York Times to do:

I think the New York Times really needs to do a proper investigation of what this reporter did and asset whether that is truly in line with the principles of the New York Times values, because they have not done that.”
