Apple has released the latest MacOS Sierra update, and it includes the Color Burst Wallpapers previously seen in the marketing material for the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. MacOS 10.12.2 has these new wallpapers, in addition to further improvements. Here’s everything you need to know, including how to get the Color Burst Wallpapers now.

Visual treats

Since Tim Cook took over at Apple, the company has proven itself to be adept at providing stunning visuals. Usually seen as part of a product’s marketing material, these images/wallpapers often become a part of its OS much later.

In fact, these new Color Burst Wallpapers are comparable to what we saw with the iPhone 7. Within in its marketing material, Apple used wallpapers which had fans clamoring to get their hands on them, and it was not until relatively recently that Apple gave users access to the iPhone 7 wallpapers.

Color Burst Wallpapers in Beta 4

The latest MacOS 10.12.2 Beta 4 allows developers and Beta testers to gain access to these new wallpapers. Everyone else must wait until Apple releases MacOS 10.12.2 via the Mac App Store.

However, thanks to those people out there that like to leak Apple materials and information early, there’s absolutely no reason for you to have to wait any longer. They have become available, so you could soon be deciding which one of the four available wallpapers will adorn your desktop.

Wallpaper choices

When it comes to choosing one of the four, you can get all of them at once, but you will have to use one at a time. Apple has given each a name: Color Burst 1, Color Burst 2, Color Burst 3, and the gorgeous, but odd one out, Abstract Shapes.

All four contain visuals of exploding pinks, yellows, blues, greens, purples and reds. This type of image was first seen in iOS wallpapers and then ported to the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. Each is a slow motion video which is always being edited by the new Mac, making them unique every time they are viewed, which is interesting, if not a little confusing. Does Apple want us to stare at them continuously? Don’t answer that. They’re stunning, and that is all that matters.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that MacOS 10.12.2 Beta 4 is solely focused on the wallpapers, which isn’t the case. Mac owners can also expect it to come with support for the much-anticipated Unicode 9 emoji characters. This enables it to fall in line with iOS 10.2 and watchOS 3.1.1, and all three are expected to be released at some point next month.

Additionally, there is expected to be improved support for Touch ID and the Touch Bar. However, we do not yet know what these improvements are.

What do you think of the above Color Burst Wallpapers? Is there one you like more than the others? Or do you want to try them out on your desktop before deciding?
