Delta Air Lines, Halliburton, Forest Laboratories: Earnings Preview

Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) and Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) will be reporting their fourth quarter results on Tuesday, January 21. Forest Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:FRX) will also be reporting its earnings on the same day, but for its third quarter ending December 2013. Analysts expect all three companies to improve their earnings compared to the corresponding period a year ago.

Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL)

Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) has a market value of about $26.58 billion as of January 17. The airliner is expected to post $2.58 per share in earnings on revenue of $9.03 billion. Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) had earned just one cent per share with $8.60 in revenue in Q4 2012. The stock has gained more than 135% over the past 12 months.

Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL)

The world’s second biggest oil field services firm is expected to earn 89 cents on revenue of $7.56 billion. Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) had posted 72 cents in earnings and $7.29 billion in revenue in the corresponding period a year ago. The company earned 83 cents in the third quarter. Statistics show that the consensus estimate has declined over the past 60 days from 91 cents to 89 cents. However, Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) hasn’t disappointed analysts over the past four quarters. So, we expect a strong quarter this time as well.

Recently, Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL)’s arch-rival Schlumberger recently posted 8% growth in revenue and a 22% increase in the fourth quarter profits. Investors expect the Houston-based company to keep up with its rival. Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) shares have gained over 40% over the past 12 months.

Forest Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:FRX)

The New York-based pharmaceutical company is expected to post a net loss of one cent on revenue of $828 billion in the third quarter. Forest Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:FRX) had incurred a loss of 58 cents per share with $722.69 in sales in the corresponding quarter last year. The stock has returned an impressive 81.3% over the past 12 months.

Analysts are optimistic about all three of Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL), Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) and Forest Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:FRX) and are eagerly waiting the actual results.
