Next week, Consuelo Mack WealthTrack launches its 13th season with “Small Company Value,” an exclusive interview with small-cap stock pioneer Chuck Royce, founder and portfolio manager of The Royce Funds, who says small, top-quality companies are selling at bargain prices. Season 13 premieres nationwide beginning this Friday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. on public television (check local listings**) and on wealthtrack.com.
Watch an interview preview:
In this clip, Chuck Royce tells WealthTrack Anchor and Executive Producer Consuelo Mack why managing money has become more challenging in the years since he began running his flagship Royce Pennsylvania Mutual fund in 1972: “It is definitely more challenging. There are new vehicles: ETFs have changed the marketplace, passive investing has been taken way too seriously, so there’s been fundamental change going on. Active management — which is what we do and many others — has underperformed, as passive did very well, and this is changing. Value investing and active investing really are highly correlated so as value does better so will active managers….a really good active manager’s always sort of in the risk management business, so he’s always taking steps to reduce risk, which works most of the time and in the long-term, but in the last period, when markets skyrocket, was not the best strategy.”
Future Season 13 episodes will focus on retirement, real estate, sustainability, small businesses, market volatility and more. Announcement with details is below
