Charlene Chu’s ‘Best-Case’ Scenario for China’s Banks Is Scary

Speaking at a Heard on the Street event in Hong Kong on Wednesday, China banks expert Charlene Chu of Autonomous Research was asked what she thinks the true nonperforming loan ratio is for the banking system. The official 1.5% rate is implausibly low. Even bullish bank investors figure it might be as high as 10%.
