A camera comparison has pitted the iPhone 11 Pro vs the Huawei Mate 30, based on test results. The iPhone 11 Pro has been widely praised for the major improvement in its camera, but in this camera comparison, it was edged out by the Huawei Mate 30.

iPhone 11 Pro vs Huawei Mate 30 in testing

DXOMARK released the results of its testing in a post this week. The iPhone 11 Pro Max received an overall score of 117 for its camera, which places it among the top five handsets according to the test results. The handset earned a Photo score of 124 points, making it one of the best options for still images, and it scored 102 in Video, placing it in a tie with the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition for videos.

According to DXOMARK, the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s camera did “very well” in its tests “in pretty much all areas.” However, the tester added that “some challenges remain.” The testing site said exposure in the device’s images was quite good, and dynamic range is quite wide in bright light and indoors. However, some highlight clipping does occur in difficult-to-shoot scenes.

DXOMARK also found good colors in images shot by the iPhone 11 Pro Max, although some images taken indoors did have a greenish tint to them. The tester also praised Apple’s Deep Fusion camera feature, which utilizes machine learning and image stacking for more textures and detail. The quality of the zoom on the device has also improved compared to last year’s models.

Camera comparison

The only area in which the iPhone 11 Pro is said to be lacking is in nighttime shooting or low light. In fact, this is the one point in which the camera comparison between the iPhone 11 Pro vs Huawei Mate 30 gets particularly interesting. The Mate 30 Pro has larger sensors, which is why it outperforms the iPhone 11 Pro in low-light environments.

Overall, the iPhone 11 Pro Max ranks in third place, according to Redmond Pie. However, whenever you’re doing a camera comparison between two or more devices, there is always some degree of personal preference when it comes to choosing the best-looking photos or videos. Thus, the ranking won’t carry much weight for many people, although it is safe to say that the phone has one of the best smartphone cameras available.
