World of Warcraft, Overwatch and Starcraft II fans rejoice. Blizzard has announced details for BlizzCon 2019, which is set for Nov. 1-2. This year’s event will also feature the 2019 Overwatch World Cup.
BlizzCon 2019 will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, and Blizzard is selling tickets in two waves: one on May 4 and the other on May 8. According to the announcement, the game developer will host a lot of events during the convention, including developer panels, eSports competitions, and the BlizzCon Pregame Festivities, which will take place outside the center the day before the show. In a statement, the company said more information about the show will be available in the coming weeks.
“BlizzCon has served as a home away from home for the Blizzard community, a place where online friends can meet up in real life and new friendships are formed,” Blizzard Entertainment President J. Allen Brack said in a news release. “We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to the show this year, reconnecting, celebrating, and sharing some of our latest developments.”
When it comes to eSports for BlizzCon 2019, there’s a lot to look forward to, including the Overwatch World Cup, the Hearthstone Global Finals, the global finals for the StarCraft II World Championship Series, the World of Warcraft Arena World Championship Finals, and the World of Warcraft Mythic Dungeon International.
Overwatch World Cup
This year marks the fourth annual Overwatch World Cup, and teams representing several countries will compete. Under the new tournament structure, the entire competition will be completed within a week in Anaheim and broadcast around the world. The World Cup’s preliminary Group Stage is scheduled for Nov. 1, and six teams will advance to a single-elimination playoff. More information can be found on the Overwatch League website.
Three separate passes for BlizzCon 2019
This year’s BlizzCon tickets come with three passes: the general BlizzCon Pass, which costs $229; the BlizzCon Portal Pass for $550; and the BlizzCon Benefit Dinner, which will cost $750, with proceeds going to Children’s Hospital of Orange Count. Interested Blizzard fans can get their tickets in the first wave on May 4 starting at 10 a.m. Pacific, while the second wave starts on May 8 at 7 p.m. Pacific. You can purchase tickets on AXS.
Currently, Overwatch players are completing the Archives event, which comes with a lot of PvE content and accessories like skins, emotes, icons and more. Interestingly, this year’s event also comes with a strange but amusing Junkrat bug. While Blizzard works on a new escort map for Havana, it announced a new custom mode called Workshop. The new mode will come well before Blizzcon 2019, but it is promising enough to become the favorite game mode because players will be able to make their own rules.
