BlackBerry Woos Small Businesses With Direct Sales Program

Updated on

BlackBerry declared an interesting sales initiative code-named the Direct Sales Program just last month. Now according to the Canadian smartphone maker, a variety of features are attracting businesses and companies to the program.

Cheaper devices for companies

BlackBerry began the Direct Sales Program to allow business owners and IT administrators to buy unlocked BlackBerry devices directly from its Smartphone Business Sales Team and deploy them in volume. The effort appears to be paying off now.

In a post, the Canadian firm said it is starting to see a very positive reaction from customers, and people are happy to talk to their team. A wider selection of BlackBerry devices is being enjoyed by businesses. Under the program, one can ask for products that may be hard to come by in their region, and they will probably include models like the Leap and Passport Silver Edition.

In comparison to the unlocked BlackBerry devices sold by carriers, the devices sold directly are significantly cheaper, the Canadian smartphone maker says. Also purchasing unlocked devices this way can reduce the overall cost of ownership over several years.

Elliott Coulter, a BlackBerry sales representative, explains that businesses “don’t have to worry about the long-term costs of subsidies, and they’re able to negotiate better service plans, as well.” This can save around $75 to $100 per device, he says.

BlackBerry program has more benefits

Also companies using BlackBerry’s Direct Sales Program get considerable security expertise and direct line support.

“When customers contact the direct handheld sales team, they’re dealing with BlackBerry experts,” says Coulter.

He further says they work with all OSes and brands, and customers get answers more promptly than if they were going through a third party. Coulter says small business go to Google for answers or troll support forums when they encounter a problem, but BlackBerry assists them by directly connecting them with a product manager.

Other positives for companies and businesses that buy directly using BlackBerry’s program are a 30-day money back guarantee, one-year complimentary support, dedicated account manager, volume purchasing and payment advantages, one-year manufacturer’s warranty and free shipping. These merits can reduce device costs significantly. There is only one catch: “you have to purchase in bulk.”

Both small and big companies will likely benefit from the program, but the most immediate impact is for smartphone retailers looking for high-quality, unlocked smartphones at affordable prices.

“Our Direct Sales program is only a month old, but is already attracting scores of clients both new and old,” the blog post read.
