Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is suing a Chinese firm and government agency over Siri patent rights. The report comes from a Xinhua news agency.

Apple’s latest lawsuit

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) filed the lawsuit against the State Intellectual Property Office, the agency that’s responsible for patent right protection in in China. It’s also in charge of Shanghai’s Zhizhen Network Technology, a company that created a software very similar to voice assistant Siri.

The Cupertino-based tech giant has declined to make a statement. Apple previously requested that the State Intellectual Property Office declare the Siri copy invalid, but their request was declined. This prompted Apple’s lawsuit. Troubles between the two have been brewing for quite some time. In 2013, Apple was sued by Zhizhen over a complaint that Siri was being copied in Xiao i Robot’s software

The official hearing was last summer, however no ruling was made.

iPhone 6 likely will feature sapphire screens

Right now, the iPhone maker has a lot riding on it in regards to the upcoming iPhone 6. Although we have about half of a year to go before the highly-anticipated device is unveiled, the rumors are really starting to heat up. Ubuntu developer Canonical CEO recently confirmed Apple’s reservations for a large supply of sapphire screens. These reports indicate Apple has been acquiring three years’ supply of screens for upcoming devices. Although there are no confirmations from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) just yet (not that we would expect the secretive company to share anything ahead of time), this does offer some insight into what to expect.

GigaOm added, “What’s interesting is that the Edge was to have a 4.5-inch display. The current iPhone 5s has a 4-inch display that is more elongated than the more traditional proportions of what would have been the Edge’s screen. To confuse matters further, rumors are currently floating around of Apple buying sapphire displays but at a size of 5.6 inches, for a phablet-style device that won’t use the iPhone branding. So in that context, Shuttleworth’s very clear assertion doesn’t make much sense, but it’s probably worth noting nonetheless.”

Big things are coming from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
