Apple Inc. Set To Produce 12-Inch MacBook For Next Year

Updated on

Apple is rumored to be planning to release a 12-inch MacBook Air. This report comes from Taiwan-based Digitimes. The new laptop features a design even thinner than the current MacBook Air. It is also reported that the computer will feature a new chassis design that reduces thickness and weight.

First ever 12-inch Apple MacBook Air

Other than a mention of a Broadwell processor, the report does not divulge more details. Digitimes is not always the best source when it comes to news, but if this current report turns out to be true, it will be the very first time Apple offered a MacBook Air in that screen size option. MacBooks currently come in either 11-inch or 13-inch screen sizes.

One of Apple’s top competitors, Microsoft, recently launched a website to entice MacBook users to make the switch to Surface Pro 3. A snipit reads, “Whether you’re considering Surface Pro 3 or have recently purchased one, we want to say thank you! We designed Surface Pro 3 to make you more productive in every aspect of your digital work and life. We’re truly humbled you’re here, and we’re excited to see what you do with your new Surface. Computers, and the memories you keep within them, are incredibly personal. We know moving these memories from one platform to another can be nerve-racking and learning new software can seem daunting. We want to make the transition as easy as possible. If you currently have a Mac and have questions about switching to Surface Pro 3 and Windows, we designed this site to help get you started.”

What this website doesn’t feature is the usual taunts many have come to expect from Microsoft. This page keeps it simple by giving customers step-by-step instructions on how MacBook users can move their documents and files to Microsoft. This is a rather bold move for Microsoft, but it’s not exactly a ground-breaking move that will change everything either.
