The trailer of the movie regarding the late co-founder and CEO of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Steve Jobs is now released. Of course, the movie will not be complete without featuring the other person behind the establishment of the tech giant, Steve Wozniak.
Steve Wozniak Comments on the Trailer
When asked about the trailer, Steve Wozniak told Jesus Diaz of Gizmodo that the portrayal of the personalities and his interaction with Jobs was “totally wrong”, but he thinks the way he was depicted was closer to reality.
Steve Wozniak said, “Not close…we never had such interaction and roles…I’m not even sure what it’s getting at…personalities are very wrong although mine is closer…it’s totally wrong.”
With regard to the portrayal of Jobs’ character. Steve Wozniak stated that Jobs was “no saint” and a different person when he was young. According to Wozniak, “I have a little bug in me that this movie will portray Steve as a saint who was ignored, rather than one of the people who led Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) failure after failure [Apple III, Lisa, Macintosh] while the revenues poured in from Apple ][ that Jobs was trying to kill…”
He emphasized that the Macintosh market was developed three years after the departure of Jobs from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Wozniak noted that some of the people disdained by Jobs contributed a lot of effort to it.
Jobs Was More Experienced Upon Returning to Apple
Steve Wozniak added that when Jobs came back to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) he was more experienced, more thoughtful and capable of running the tech giant. He emphasized, “Jobs came back as the saint and god we now recognize and did then head the creation of other products as great as Apple ][ like the iTunes store, iPod, retail stores, iPhone and the iPad. We truly could have used the later Jobs in earlier years at Apple…”
According to Steve Wozniak, when they were young and starting Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), the ideas about computers affecting society did not come from Jobs, but it were inspired by himself during their discussions at the Homebrew Computer Club. He said, Jobs “came back from Oregon and didn’t talk about this great social impact. His idea was a $20 PC board and sell it for $40 to help people at the club to build the computer I’d given away. Steve came from selling surplus parts at HalTed—he always saw a way to make a quick buck off my designs (this was the 5th time).”
He admitted that back then he “never looked like a professional…” He added, “I’m embarrassed, but if the movie is fun and entertaining, all the better. Anyone who reads my book iWoz can get a clearer picture.”
Ashton Kutcher played the role of Steve Jobs in the biopic “Jobs,” which will be released in theaters in August.
Most recently, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) co-founder Steve Wozniak also commented that he was disappointed with the U.S. government’s spying programs, the Patriot Act is going downhill, and he is rethinking his views about the country.
