Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has just announced its 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference dates and schedule. The event is set for June 10 – 14 at Moscone West in San Francisco. Tickets for the conference will go on sale at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time tomorrow, April 25.
Last year tickets for WWDC sold out in less than two hours as developers and consumers alike were excited to see Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s planned changes for iOS and OS X. It’s likely demand will be even higher for WWDC this year as Craig Federighi has taken over for former senior VP Scott Forstall, who left in the wake of the Apple Maps disaster. Also, acclaimed Apple designer Jony Ive took over interface design after Forstall left.
Every year Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s WWDC conference provides sessions for developers to do coding and work on their new projects along with engineers from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s engineers also present various new features for iOS and OS X that are targeted at developers.
There are several rumors about possible upcoming features for iOS 7. The update was said to be delayed because Ive was pushing for more substantial changes to the interface, including a more modern flat design. Also 9 to 5 Mac reports that OS X 10.9 will have a number of iOS features brought over, like Siri and possibly some of the functionality of Maps.
“Our developers have had the most prolific and profitable year ever, and we’re excited to show them the latest advances in software technologies and developer tools to help them create innovative new apps,” said Philip Schiller, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) senior VP of Worldwide Marketing in a statement. “We can’t wait to get new versions of iOS and OS X into their hands at WWDC.”
Last year’s WWDC featured updates not only to iOS 6 and OS X Mountain lion, but also hardware updates, specifically major updates to the Mac notebook computers.
