Apple Inc. (AAPL) Seeks Employees’ Help Regarding iOS 6 Maps Issues

Updated on

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) wants their retail store employees to help them spot and report errors found on the iOS 6 mapping program.

According to Gary Allen, from ifoAppleStore.com, store managers for Apple have asked their employees to highlight errors found on the Maps program. While this sounds like a good idea, Allen says that many store employees might not be able to afford an iPhone, plus the fact they have over 40,000 of their employees to help, may make things even more complicated.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) Seeks Employees' Help Regarding iOS 6 Maps Issues

There was high expectations for Apple’s iPhone 5 Maps program, and when the company let their customers down with a poorly designed feature, everyone was disappointed. Last week, the company’s chief executive officer did release a statement, claiming that they were truly sorry for the Maps problem, and they were working on the issue right away.

Cook also suggested that customers can help improve the feature over time, by reporting errors.

It’s a good thing that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is currently working on improving their Maps program, but is the problem to big for them to handle? While there is nothing wrong with them asking Maps users to report errors, it is a little strange that they’re asking retail store employees to spot them. Perhaps, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) should have waited at least a year or two and tested out the maps application in their lab, before releasing it along with iOS 6.  It’s understandable that they are new to creating map applications, but it would have made a little more sense to wait until they knew for sure that the map program was good to go. Hopefully, they will learn from this gaffe, and try a little patience the next time they try something new. I doubt it will be much longer before Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) releases an improved Maps application, fortunately we still have other options while we wait.
