Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPhone 6 Is Coming With 4.8-Inch Screen: Analyst

Updated on

All those reports of an iPhone 6 with a 4.8-inch screen are indeed true, according to one analyst. Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri claims that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has already finalized most of the design of the iPhone 6 and that it sports a 4.8-inch screen. Of course at this point, we have so many differing reports from various people who claim something about the iPhone 6 is definitely true that someone somewhere is probably taking bets on the subject.

iPhone 6 design supposedly “locked down”

Arcuri told investors that his checks of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s supply chain indicate that the iPhone 6 does indeed have a 4.8-inch display. In addition, he claims that the handset will have speedy 801.11ac Wi-Fi, a new standard added to Apple’s Mac computers, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule routers last year. The iPhone 5S, also launched last year however, still had the slower 802.11n Wi-Fi connection.

The analyst said Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is also planning some innovations in software along with the next big iOS update. He predicts that Apple will start using Passbook TouchID and iBeacon as it efforts to push into the mobile payments industry. Of course this is a prediction other analysts have been making for some time, so it will be interesting to see if it happens this year.

iPhone 6 coming in September

Contrary to what we heard recently, Arcuri predicts that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will launch the iPhone 6 in September. Previous reports have indicated that a June launch is possible, but September would put the launch in line with previous years. Arcuri did state in his report, however, that a June launch might be possible even though he thinks September is more likely.

The analyst is also predicting that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will launch a 13-inch iPad hybrid device which is part tablet and part PC. This is another prediction made recently by others as well. He thinks this device will land in the second half of this year, which again, would put it in line with past iPad launches.
