Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will most likely unveil its next generation smartphones iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in its upcoming event on September 10th. The iPhone 5S is an upgraded version of iPhone 5 launched last year while iPhone 5C is rumored to be a low cost iPhone, mainly for emerging markets.
Various rumors and reports surrounding the specification of both phones have been making rounds ever since the Cupertino-based firm unveiled its last iPhone. Below is the crux of most of those rumors and reports, giving a rough idea what we might have in store.
Apple iPhone 5S, an update to previous version
Hardware of iPhone 5S is expected to be a step ahead of iPhone 5. New iPhone 5S will be equipped with same dual core CPU with upgraded quad-core SGX544MP4 GPU, 2GB of RAM, and an IGZO screen (for increased brightness and/or reduced power consumption). Further, camera of iPhone 5S is expected to be 12 megapixels equipped with dual-LED flash. Moving to color palate, iPhone 5S is expected to come in a new color scheme; champagne (light gold) and graphite. Both possible new colors are slightly different from the current slate black and white models.
It is further expected that iPhone 5S will have NFC and a fingerprint reader. Many Android smartphones have NFC functionality from over two years. Fingerprint sensor will be the new feature in the next generation iPhone although there is no confirmation over the feature yet. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone5S will have a sapphire glass Home button embedded with fingerprint reader.
Apple iPhone 5C, a low cost version
iPhone 5C would probably be a low cost iPhone from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). There have been a series of pictures and videos over past few months showing the different color skins for iPhone 5C. The back casing of this budget phone will probably be of polycarbonate plastic. The device is expected to be available in five different colors; white, blue, red, green, yellow and red.
There has been a split over screen size with some agreeing over 4.5 inches while others predicting 4 inches. But there are higher possibilities of 4 inches display as evident from the leaked back casing. There is no clarity over other specification with an indication over A5 processor and a 5 megapixel camera. It is expected that iPhone 5C will be powered with OS7, but Siri might be pulled out from this low budget phone in a bid to differentiate it from high end iPhone.
The suspense over the colors, specifications, price etc will end soon if, of course, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) unveils the devices a few days from now. Until then stay tuned!
