Some users are experiencing a daylight saving time glitch with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS 7. There were several Apple Insider readers who reported that their current time is off by one hour.
The bug only affects current time display. The time is correct in most locations including the notification bar, calendar appointments, and alarms.
Apple’s iOS was affected by glitches
Apple Insider added, “Time zone support is a recurring issue for Apple’s software and operating systems. In 2010, iOS 4 contained a bug that did not properly shift alarm schedules when Daylight Savings Time ended, causing some European iPhone owners to miss appointments or wake up late for work, while Australians were woken up early.”
This wasn’t the first time Apple’s iOS has been affected by glitches. A few years ago, there was a iOS 4 bug which disabled the clocks to be ticked over to January 1st, 2011. Fortunately, Apple fixed the issues.
iOS 7 has received a lot of flack
iOS 7 has received a lot of flack since it debuted publicly late last summer. Some Apple fans critiqued the design and features, most notably the parallax effect which made some users feel nauseated. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fixed the issue with an update. Steve Kovach from Slate explained why this update is beneficial. He said, “When the final version of iOS 7 launched last month, the animations didn’t get any faster. You could still turn off the parallax effect under settings, but you were still stuck with the zoomy animations that some people said made them sick to their stomachs. Many tech pundits, even some of the world’s most passionate Apple fans, hated those animations. But Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fixed it. Sort of. In a new minor update to iOS 7 that launched this week, Apple gave users the option to switch off nearly all of the vomit-inducing animations. Before, you could only turn off the parallax effect. Now you can turn off the animations when opening up apps or folders.”
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) should have this daylight savings glitch fixed before the United States goes off daylight savings next week.
