Updated on

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has roped in music stars like Pharrell Williams, Kylie Minogue and Maroon 5 for its iTunes festival in September, which lasts for almost a month. Other performers will be David Guetta, Beck, Sam Smith, Kasabian and Blondie. The performance would be held at the Roundhouse venue in Camden, with more than 60 artists to perform.

Live streaming on iDevices

Just like the past years, the concert will be live-streamed on iDevices for the users, who can access the show on their computers, iPhones, iPads and iPod touch or on television through Apple set-top box.es The live-streaming of the festival will be aired to around 11 countries, but unlike previous years, where a special app was created, this year the show will be streamed through iTunes store on iOS.

Fans can buy tickets through online lottery after giving their details on the festival website for winning a ticket. Global Radio and the Evening Standard Newspaper are the media partners for the upcoming festival.

Eddy Cue, Apple Inc.’s senior vice president of internet software and services, as the gigs were announced, said, “These live shows capture the heart and soul of iTunes and we love bringing them to our customers in the Roundhouse, as well as to the millions of people watching all over the world for free.”

Apple roping more artists

The announcement of the London event was made in the iTunes Festival’s first international expansion in March, in Austin during the SXSW festival, when Apple hosted gigs by artists including Coldplay, Pitbull and Soundgarden.

Apple hosted first such event in London in 2007, and since then over 430 artists have performed. Some other artists that have been signed in this year are Calvin Harris, 5 Seconds of Summer, Chrissie Hynde, Robert Plant, Jungle and Kiesza.  As of now, it is widely anticipated that Apple might launch a streaming music service, post iTunes Radio and Beats Music collaboration in the United Kingdom.

Apple acquired Beats Music for $3 billion in May, and the deal would be sealed in the coming months. The iTunes Radio was rolled in February, Australia, but it is still not available in the United Kingdom.
