Some Apple Inc. NASDAQ:AAPL iPhone 6 fans are obsessed; this fact has become even more evident given one iPhone fan had a microchip implanted on his left hand. Ben Slater of Brisbane is awaiting the September 9 launch of the phone, and has already has a grain-size microchip in his hand courtesy of a local tattoo parlor.

iPhone 6 to support more functions

The advertising executive wants to control a range of electronic devices by simply moving left hand. Slater said that implanted chip was aching a little, but the implantation did not take much time.

‘I just needed to be really careful when it was healing over the course of the two weeks later so that I didn’t move it – otherwise it could have traveled in my hand,’ he said.

According to Slater, with chip in his hand, the iPhone 6 will be able to scan the device and allow him to perform a range of functions effortlessly. Some of the functions that Slater is betting the iPhone 6 will perform are opening the front door of his home, turn on electric lights and connect files containing data related to health records and names, addresses and phone numbers of his network of associates and friends.

Has Slater impressed Apple?

Implanting a microchip might be something Australians have hardly heard about, but it is quite a trend in the United States after being first launched in 2004, when Food and Drug Administration (FDA) implanted microchips for the use of carrying information about medical conditions, cited The Sydney Morning Herald.

Slater’s wife was not comfortable with the idea of getting the chip implanted, thinking that it was crazy, Slater said that he is a big fan of Apple and technological innovation, and he decided to put the new tech in his hand without any second thoughts. That said, it looks like Slater may have to stand in the queue and wait for his iPhone 6 just like everyone else.

The iPhone maker has not been as successful in captivating fans across the globe over the past few years, which is why all eyes are on Apple now, expecting new products that are both cool and innovative.
