Rumors about an Apple car have been swirling around for more than a year. As Apple remains tight-lipped about its secret Project Titan, no one really knows what the vehicle would look like. Tesla Motors founder Elon Musk has said Apple’s electric car plan was an “open secret” and it could make a compelling car. Even though the rumored Apple car is not expected to arrive until at least 2019, designers at Luca Wrede and Concepts iPhone have created a concept video showing the Apple car with iPhone and Apple Watch integration.
It is more than a car
The 2020-era concept car is “more than a car” and boasts of a wide dashboard display. The rendering is in line with the minimalist design of Apple products. The dashboard screen answers calls, shows speed, and traffic predictions. The interactive dashboard can pull up Apple Maps, Siri, Safari and other software features. But you may have to wait for a few years before you can buy the real Apple car.

This video is just one of the many concepts we have seen in the last few months. While many incumbent automakers have taken a dig at Apple’s automobile plans, senior Ford executive Don Butler earlier this week welcomed the Cupertino company’s foray into the automobile industry. The iPhone maker has hired more than 1,000 engineers to work on its car.
Apple opening research facility in Canada for Apple car?
There have been rumors that the Project Titan has a ship date of 2019. In May 2015, Apple executives also met with officials at an automobile testing facility near San Francisco. Site officials later told the Associated Press that Apple had sought information about using their facility. Apple engineers also secretly attended an automobile conference in November. And last month, the iPhone maker registered three car-related domain names including Apple.car.
Earlier this week, sources familiar with the matter told the Ottawa Business Journal that Apple was setting up a research facility in Kanata near Ottawa. It has fueled speculations that the facility could be used for the development of Apple’s driverless electric car. That’s because the new research facility is very close to the offices of BlackBerry-owned QNX Systems, which develops software for cars. According to 9to5Mac, companies often setup offices near their competition to attract talent. Employees are more likely to switch jobs if they don’t have to relocate.
