Details on the 10.5-inch iPad Pro

The 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro have the same specs except for the size of the display. The 10.5-inch model is the first iPad Pro with a display that size. Both versions run on Apple’s new six-core A10X Fusion chip and have a 12-core graphics processing unit. They also have the company’s Touch ID fingerprint sensor, which can be used to unlock them and keep in-app personal information unlocked. It an also be used to approve App Store, iTunes Store and iBooks Store purchases.

The new iPads have a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 7-megapixel camera on the front. The cameras are the same as those found on the iPhone 7, although the new iPads also have a 7-megapixel FaceTime HD camera. According to Apple, the new tablets should have a 10-hour battery life, which is interesting given that they have the same specs but a larger display on one of them. The company explained that it trimmed the borders of the 10.5-inch model by almost 40% and kept the weight at 1 pound. To do this, Apple reduced the bezels so that the tablet has a bigger screen to body ratio.

When iOS 11 arrives, the iPad Pro models will support some new multi-tasking features. It will also add an app dock at the bottom of the screen to make it easier to find commonly-used apps.

iPad Pro models feature ProMotion technology

The two iPad Pro models also have what the company has termed “ProMotion technology” in the redesigned Retina display. The technology enables them to support HDR video with a refresh rate of 120Hz, which the company said makes them perfect to use with the Apple Pencil. Apple explained that it makes the tablets more responsive with only a 20-millisecond latency rate. The tablets automatically adjust the refresh rate based on what the user is looking at on them so as to conserve power.

The new iPad Pro models are also 50% brighter than the previous versions, and they have an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and make viewing easier, even outside and in bright light. The True Tone technology also adjusts the display’s white balance automatically to match the ambient light around the user.

Pricing, release dates for Apple’s new iPad Pro models

Both new iPad Pro models will begin shipping next week. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro starts at $649 with 64 gigabytes of storage and Wi-Fi only or $779 for the cellular-enabled model with 64 gigabytes of storage. Apple has priced the 64-gigabyte 12.9-inch model at $799 with Wi-Fi or $929 with cellular. Both models are available in storage options ranging up to 512 gigabytes.

In addition to the new iPads themselves, the company is also selling new accessories and sleeves for them.
