Amazon’s Growing Prime Exclusive Lineup Now Include Four LG Phones

Updated on

Amazon’s Prime Exclusive lineup now has one more smartphone maker under it. Joining the list is LG with four phones: the LG G6, G6+, Q6 and X Charge. Amazon will be offering big discounts on these handsets, but as the case is with all Prime Exclusive smartphones, they will have ads shown on the lockscreen.

Prime Exclusive lineup growing steadily

“We’re excited to welcome LG as a new manufacturer to the Prime Exclusive Phones program,” said Amazon’s Director of Product Management, Adrian Hurditch, in a press release.

Amazon started selling Prime Exclusive phones last year, and the first phone on offer was the Moto X4 priced at $329 ($70 discount). Since then the list has expanded to include the Alcatel Idol 5S, Nokia 6, and Moto G5 Plus. Further, apps such as Prime Video, Prime Music and Prime Photo come preloaded on Amazon’s Prime Exclusive phones. Offering ad-subsidized versions of smartphones is a smart strategy from Amazon as it not only rewards and engages Prime members but also expands Amazon’s revenue stream. The phones are unlocked versions.

“Making our award-winning smartphones available through Amazon’s Prime Exclusive Phones program provides a convenient way for Prime members to experience the best of Amazon Prime’s services through some of our newest smartphones,” said Chang Ma, president of LG Electronics MobileComm USA Inc.

LG G6 becomes more affordable

The Prime Exclusive version of the LG G6 will now be available at $399, a discount of $100, and it will work on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon but not Sprint. It sports a 5.7-inch FullVision QHD+ display with an 18:9 ratio and is powered by the Snapdragon 821 chipset. The smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 2TB).

The LG Q6 boasts a dual-13MP camera on the back and a front camera of 5MP with a 100-degree field of view.  The phone has IP68 dust and water resistance, supports wireless charging and has a 3300mAh battery. LG’s phone also got a MIL-STD-810G rating, which means it can withstand serious tumbles.

The LG G6 Plus will cost $499 under the Prime Exclusives program. The handset has the same specs as the standard version, but the amount of storage has been increased to 128GB and it also comes with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC for perfect sound with wired headphones. The mid-range LG Q6 will cost $229 under the program, and since it is GSM-unlocked, it will work with T-Mobile and AT&T only. The handset features a 5.5-inch full HD+ display and is powered by the Snapdragon 435 processor.  The LG Q6 comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The LG X Charge with a 4,500mAh battery will cost $149. The handset is fitted with a 5.5-inch HD LCD display and 2GB of RAM and is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 processor. The LG X Charge comes with 16 GB of internal storage (expandable up to 2 TB). It has a 13MP rear-facing camera with HDR control and a 5MP selfie camera with an LED Front Flash and Auto Shot.

You can pre-order the LG phones on offer starting today, while shipments are expected next month.
