Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) started shipping its Amazon Fire Phone in the United Kingdom today.
Telefónica UK Limited through its commercial brand O2 is now selling Amazon Fire Phone, which is available in 32GB and 64 GB models. The smartphone comes with a free Amazon Prime Membership until December 31.
O2 offers Fire Phone for free with two-year contract
O2 is offering the 32GB Amazon Fire Phone for free with a two-year contract starting from £28 per month (unlimited talk, text and 500MB of data) up to £48 per month (unlimited talk, text and 20GB of data). The telecommunications company said the smartphone’s cash price is $399.99.
On the other hand, O2 is also offering the 64GB model Amazon Fire Phone for free with a two-year contract starting from £33 per month (unlimited talk, text and 2GB of data) up to £48 per month (unlimited talk, text and 20GB of data).
The mobile operator said consumers will have to pay an upfront cost of £49.99 with the £48 per month contract.
Jorrit Van der Meulen, vice president of EU devices unit at Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) said, “We can’t wait for our UK customers to experience Amazon Fire for themselves. He added that the Amazon Fire Phone offers an “amazing value for customers with access to Amazon-exclusive content and services including one year of Prime, Mayday, ASAP, unlimited cloud storage…”
Furthermore, Meulen emphasized that the Amazon Fire Phone is integrated with innovative features such as the Dynamic Perspective and Firefly.
The smartphone is equipped with four front-facing cameras, follows a user’s movement, and it is powered by a modified version of the Android 4.4 KitKat mobile operating system of Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL).
The Amazon Fire Phone sports 5.7-inch HD screen, 13MP rear camera, and integrated with a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm processor.
AT&T is now offering Amazon Fire Phone for 99 Cents with two-year contract
In the United States, AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) is offering the 32GB model of Amazon Fire Phone for 99 cents with a two-year contract or $0 down and $18.75 per month (24 months) with AT&T Next 18. Originally, the smartphone was offered for $199 with a two-year contract.
