, Inc. (AMZN) Phone May Debut Soon, Suggest Reports

Updated on, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Phone is apparently ready for its debut, after multiple reports and leaks in the last two years. The rumored phone from Amazon could be the apt example of ‘vaporware,’ a term given to devices that don’t exist officially, but everyone talks about it, according to a report from CNN. There has not been any confirmation from Amazon.

Previous reports hinting at an Amazon phone

Last week, tech blog Boy Genius published images of the probable phone along with a report citing that users would be able to control the phone just by sliding the phone to various angles. A couple of weeks back, the Wall Street Journal also joined the talk by releasing a report about the phone and its launch. Both the articles maintain that the phone would have some revolutionary technology like a screen that uses four cameras to produce a hologram like 3-D images, which can be seen with bare eyes.

BGR released the photo of the probable phone encased in a protective shell due to which the design of the phone is not clear. The publisher did not reveal the source, but said that it has extracted the information from “multiple trusted sources.” Historically, BGR has been accurate in reporting the details on, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) products such as Kindle Fire tablets and Kindle e-readers. According to the latest report, there are two phones in the making and a 3D phone is one of them. Another one is cheaper and has fewer features.

Success with hardware, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has invested substantial time in making a phone as per the reports and rumors doing the rounds since 2011. The online retailer had an image of a virtual shop for the book, but ever since its Kindle products became hit, the company has proved its mettle in the hardware market, also. Kindle device debuted in 2007 followed by the Kindle Fire tablet and Amazon Fire TV.  With Amazon TV, the company has placed its hardware in competition with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google along with companies like Roku and TiVo.

An, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) phone is not an absurd theory given the success of other devices from Amazon. Also, it is expected that the company will be able to differentiate itself by embedding some unique features in its phone rather than following the herd of mobile phones in the overcrowded smartphone market.
