The Reintroduction The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act

The bill was introduced today by Rep. McGovern, Chair os the Congressional-Executive Commission on China and Co-Chair of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commssion, alongside Chris Smith (R-NJ), Thomas R. Suozzi (D-NY), Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), Tom Malinowski (D-NJ), Mike Gallagher (R-WI), and Jennifer Wexton (R-VA).

This reintroduction is an updated version of H.R. 6210 that passed in the House of Representatives on September 22, 2020 by a 406-3 vote.

Last year the bill was caught in political deadlock and never saw a Senate vote. Free Uyghur Now has worked tirelessly to urge Congress to pass the bill as soon as possible.

"Since last September, we've sent over fifteen thousand emails to Congress urging them to pass this bill swiftly with no change in language. Free Uyghur Now will continue to advocate tirelessly every step of the way to turn this crucial bill into law," said Zaineb Aboudd, Political Co-Director for Free Uyghur Now.
