Imagine a future where every object in your house is fully customised to your tastes and needs. In this world you create what you want and when you want it – this is the dawn of the 3D printing era.

This new, rapidly evolving technology has been used in some industries for decades. Now, it is expanding into the home and could change our lives in many unexpected ways. In less than two years, it’s predicted that 3D printing will make a huge difference to all aspects of our lives; from patients in hospitals receiving 3D printed organs to hotels of the future printing out your holiday essentials.
3-D printing is moving in several directions and all indications are that it will continue to expand in many areas in the future. Some of the most promising areas include medical applications, custom parts replacement, and customised consumer products. As materials improve and costs go down, other applications we can barely imagine today will become possible.
Over the past few years we’ve seen big advances in the quality, speed, and abilities of 3D printers. Although they have not quite become mainstream yet, it seems inevitable that 3D printing market is only going to expand. According to Forbes, the market is expected to reach 21 billion dollars worldwide by 2020.
From 3D printed rocket parts that will be included in rockets, taking humans to mars to drones equipped with 3D printers allowing them to make on-the-go repairs to other drones while in the air, whilst you might have to wait a decade or two for some of these predictions to become a reality, 3D printing technology is set to change our lives forever.
