Whenever rumors about the next set of iPhones erupt, some of them always include concepts with highly improbable features. That’s certainly the case with a new iPhone 12 concept with transparent display.
iPhone 12 concept with transparent display
The idea was shared by the folks at ConceptsiPhone, who introduced their iPhone 12 concept with transparent display via YouTube. The video is embedded at the bottom of this article. The concept was designed by Alexander Burakov.
The iPhone 12 concept with transparent display features a 360-degree display that wraps around the entire smartphone. It’s unclear exactly what is meant by a “transparent” display. It may simply mean that you can view the display on all sides of the device, but for it to be truly transparent, things would get tricky.
Neither realistic nor practical
The entire idea is a major departure from practicality, although it is an interesting one. The display would end up with a lot of fingerprints because it wraps all the way around. You also wouldn’t be able to use a case with it because of the wraparound display.
The creator of the iPhone 12 concept with transparent display even attached a proposed price for the handset, and that price is also a departure from reality. If Apple really could come up with such a device, it would probably sell for more than $699 or $19.62 per month with a trade-in.
The concept also features “the fastest chip ever in a smartphone.” This is already expected, especially if Apple’s suppliers do shift to a 5-nanometer fabrication process for the A14 chips in this year’s models as it’s been reported.
Other rumors suggest the iPhone 12 line-up could feature some sort of smart connector, possibly for a small version of the Apple Pencil. That rumor came from a purported iPhone 12 dummy, however. Thus, it might have no basis in reality either. Next year is also expected to bring the first 5G-equipped iPhone models and possibly even a smaller iPhone 12 Pro model.
