Apple’s new 16-inch MacBook Pro price, models, features

If you’re not already sitting down, you definitely should before you read the rest of this article. The new 16-inch MacBook Pro price is quite shocking, and it just goes to show how expensive electronic gadgets are becoming. The good news is that if you don’t have enough money for the fully loaded model, you can get the new base model for the same amount of money as last year’s base model.

Prepare yourself for the new 16-inch MacBook Pro price

The new 16-inch MacBook Pro price is an eye-watering $6,099 — if you get one that’s fully loaded. Of course, if you’re happy with the base model, it will set you back $2,399. That’s certainly nothing to blush at either, but it’s the same price as the previous 15-inch MacBook Pro. It’s also a lot more affordable than $6,100. There’s also a mid-range $2,799 model for those with a little more money to burn but not the full $6,099.

The $2,399 model will het you a 2.6 GHz 6-core ninth-generation Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost up to 4.5 GHz, a solid-state drive with 512 GB of storage, 16 GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM and AMD Radeon Pro 5300M graphics with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory.

The $2,799 model will get you more storage and a better processor. It offers a 2.3 GHz 8-core ninth-generation Intel Core i9 processor with Turbo Boost up to 4.8 GHz, a solid-state drive with 1 TB of storage, 16 GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM and AMD Radeon Pro 5500M graphics with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory.

Here’s what you get for $6,099

If you pay the 16-inch MacBook Pro price of $6,099 for the fully loaded model, here’s what you will get:

  • A solid-state drive with an astonishing 8 TB of storage
  • 64 GB of 2666 MHz DDR 4 memory
  • AMD Radeon Pro 5500M graphics with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory
  • 2.4 GHz 8-core ninth-generation Intel Core i9 processor with Turbo Boost up to 5 GHz

Here’s what they all have

Perhaps the headlining feature is the new keyboard. The Verge especially likes the new keyboard, explaining that it gets rid of the butterfly mechanism Apple has included on MacBooks in recent years and has returned to scissor switches. The keyboard improvement is especially important because Apple had to offer an extended keyboard repair program for MacBooks from recent years because of serious problems with them.

All the new 16-inch MacBook Pro models have a 16-inch Retina display and measure 0.7 millimeters thicker than last year’s model, which should help with the thermal throttling issue involving the processor. They all have a 100Wh battery, but don’t get too excited. That battery was sorely needed due to the other upgrades the device is getting, so Apple says the battery should offer 11 hours of wireless web browsing, which is only one hour longer than last year’s models.

All models also come with a Force Touch trackpad, four Thunderbolt 3 ports, a headphone jack, a “studio-quality” three-microphone array, a 96 W USB-C charger and a backlit Magic Keyboard with Touch Pad.
