The most generous names and regions within the UK have been ranked based on christmas cards sent data

A study conducted by online personalised card and gift retailer, Funky Pigeon, shows insight into how many Christmas cards are sent each year before breaking the senders down into locations and names. People located in Walsall and Doncaster and those named Emma and Sarah are the most generous.

Funky Pigeon analysed data of gifts volume by UK cities and names before ranking the data in this handy tool - perfect for a competitive dinner table game this Christmas.

The study concluded that London was the second least generous city in the UK, sending just eight Christmas Cards per every 1,000 people in the city. At the opposite end of this scale - and ranking as the most generous city in the UK - is Walsall, with the region sending 111 Christmas cards sent for every 1,000 residents. Doncaster, Wigan, Barnsley and Stockport make up the rest of the top five by handing out 81, 82, 84, 92 cards per 1,000 people respectively.

The study concluded that women tended to be the most generous people in the United Kingdom, with those named Sarah, Emma, Laura, Lisa and Rebecca ranking in the top five.

Only one male name made up the Top 10 with the Davids ranking 7th in the study. A further two male names make up the Top 20, those with the name James ranked at 11th most generous and the Pauls amongst us ranking at 13th.

If you rank at the wrong end of the generosity scale then you best bring your Christmas shopping forward and get giving those Christmas cards out early - nothing screams generosity like an early Christmas present!

  7. Leeds (up one place)
  8. Leicester (up two places)
  9. Coventry (up fives place)
  10. Bradford (new to top 20)

Falling out of the top 10 were Glasgow and Nottingham.
