“I'm excited to endorse Melissa Mark-Viverito for Congress. Throughout her career as a labor organizer, civil rights leader and as the former speaker of the New York City Council, she has been a tireless progressive leader for her community. We need more leaders like Melissa in Congress leaders whose values are rooted in racial and economic justice for all,” said Representative Jesus G. Garia, Illinois’s 4th District.

“Melissa has been a strong champion for New Yorkers and our fellow Puerto Ricans on the Island. I have been proud to work with her after Hurricane Maria to help evacuees heading to both our states find work, education, healthcare, and housing,” said Representative Darren Soto, Florida’s 9th District. “She will bring the same passion she had on the New York City Council to the Congress. It’s time to vote for Melissa to stand up for the Bronx in Washington!”

Mark-Viverito’s campaign is a grassroots effort supported by the Bronx and created for the Bronx. Endorsed by various community members, activists, and local electeds, Mark-Viverito’s campaign is focused on fighting for Medicare for All, implementing comprehensive immigration reform, and ending the housing crisis. Mark-Viverito is the leading progressive Democrat in the race and will be an unapologetic leader for the Bronx who will fight to make sure those who have been silenced are finally heard.

“At a time when our democracy is being threatened, I have seen these Congressmembers be remarkable public servants fighting against corruption and putting the needs of their community first. As fearless leaders, Congressmember Chuy García and Darren Soto have called out threats against immigrants, LGBTQ, women, and people of color. I am honored to receive their support and look forward to working alongside them in Congress,” said Melissa Mark-Viverito.
