Apple Card Starts Rolling Out To Select Users – How To Activate It?

Updated on

Apple Card has now finally arrived five months after it was first announced. However, it is not being made available to everyone as yet, rather to a few selected users who signed up to be notified when the Apple Card became available. If you are one of the lucky ones to have gotten it, but don’t know how to activate the Apple Card or how to use it, don’t worry. Apple has released a few tutorial videos as well, detailing everything that you might need to know.

Those who don’t know how to activate the Apple Card, may refer to this video from Apple. It is a pretty simple process, and all you need to do is link it to your iPhone. The process to activate the Apple Card is largely the same regardless of the iPhone model you have, and involves four simple steps.

First, open the packaging of your Apple Card, and the second step is to wake up your iPhone. Next hold your iPhone near your card. The device will automatically detect the card and throw a pop-up carrying an Activate button. Now click on the button, and that’s it! You are now ready to use the card.

If you don’t know how to use your card either, then Apple has a tutorial video for that at well. You can use the card in two ways, for shopping online or in-store. Shopping online is straightforward. All you need to do is select Apple Pay and then authenticate the payment via Face ID.

On the other hand, if you are shopping in-store, then the shop must support either Apple Pay or contactless payment. To make a purchase, you will have to double click on the side button of your iPhone and then authenticate the payment. Also, make sure that you hold the iPhone near to the reader.

Apple has uploaded a few more useful videos, such as finding your card number, making a payment to the card, checking your spending habits, and how to get 24/7 customer support.

To check the card number, first you will have to open the Wallet app, and then click on the thee-dots icon on the upper-right corner. Now click on the card information and then glance to authenticate. The window that opens next will carry your card number. You can copy the card number from there as well.

To make a payment on your Apple Card, first open the Wallet app and then tap on the pay option. Now select the amount that you want to pay and double click on the side button. You will have to glance at the screen to authenticate.

Apple also released a video detailing how users can check and keep track of their spending activity. First, open the Wallet app and tap on Activity. Now, you can view your spending by week, month or category. The category breakdown will let you know how much you spent on a specific item, for instance, on buying video games.

For Apple Card users, Apple is offering support 24 hours a day. You can contact the support team either via chat or schedule a call.  To do so, open the Wallet App, and tap on the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner. You will now notice icons of chat and call.

Lastly, for those who haven’t yet applied for the Apple Card, the company has uploaded a tutorial video detailing how to apply for the card. The process involves five simple steps. First, open the Wallet app, and click on the “+” icon and then tap on the Apple Card. You will now have to fill in your details, such as your address, birthdate, income level, and last four digits of your Social Security number. After you are done with the details, click Accept.

You can ask for the physical card, which is optional, for free. The physical card is made of titanium, and carries an Apple logo on the top left. It must be noted that the card does not carry any credit card numbers.

Apple has launched the credit card in partnership with Goldman Sachs. The card will run on Mastercard’s network, and is exclusive to the iPhone owners. It works like any other credit card. Apple has assured that Goldman Sachs, which will handle customer data and transactions, will not misuse or sell it to third-parties.

Apple’s card gives 3% cash back on purchases of Apple products, such as iPhones and software subscriptions, 2% on Apple Pay purchases and 1% on any other purchases.

Apple first teased the card in March, and today, it is starting with a “preview rollout,” while the full release to the U.S. iPhone users will happen later this month. The company has not disclosed how many users there are in the preview group.
