Massive GTA 6 Leak Details Story, Locations, Characters And More

Updated on

Grand Theft Auto VI or GTA 6 is one of the most-awaited games presently. We have already seen a string of GTA leaks and rumors detailing its location, console exclusivity and more. The new GTA 6 leak is believed to be massive as it talks about characters, story, locations, era and more.

This new GTA 6 leak comes from a Reddit user, who cites the sources as “two friends who are very reliable and have worked for places such as Kotaku and PC Gamer.” Also, the user claims to have a “very dear friend who works for Rockstar” who does not deny these details.

To start with, the new GTA 6 leak claims that the game is next-gen only, suggesting it will be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett only. Further, the leak says the game has been in development since 2012, but the development work gained momentum only in 2015. Now that the Red Dead Redemption 2 is delivered, the entire Rockstar Games team is working on GTA 6. The game is codenamed “Project Americas.”

We have already heard that the game is set in Vice City. The new leak, however, claims that the game is also set in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while some missions are based in Liberty City (New York City) as well.  Additionally, the leak also mentions Cuba.

Further, the leak says that the game will have just one protagonist, and it would likely be male and not female. This is in contrast with the earlier rumors of a female protagonist in the game. Further, the leak claims that the story of the game is heavily inspired by Netflix’s Narcos. To back it up, the leak says that the protagonist is an “up and coming drug lord-wannabe.”

“You start off as a grunt doing runs as a cocaine smuggler from Vice City to the new large South American area before making connections with big time drug lords and making your way up,” the rumor reads. Also, the game is not set in modern times, but rather in the 70s and 80s.

Another interesting detail that the new leak talks about is that there will be a “GIANT” prison in the game. Further, the leak notes that Rockstar is focusing on natural calamities such as hurricanes and floods for the upcoming title. To make the game more real, the buildings and vehicles in the cities will change (or possibly appear old) as time progresses.

“So older, rare classic cars get more expensive as time progresses etc,” the leak says.

Also, the leak notes that the characters will speak the local language, suggesting there will be heavy subtitles in the game. The game, according to the leak, will also touch on HIV and immigration and could also feature a fictionalized take on Fidel Castro.

Talking of weapons, the leak says there will be no arsenal in the back pocket, rather players will carry weapons in person only. However, all equipment and body armor can be stored in the trunk. The new leak provides no information on the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date, rather claims there is no ETA for the title.

It is almost confirmed that the game won’t arrive in 2019, rather it is expected to land in Fall 2020. The GTA 5 was launched 67 months ago, the previous biggest gap was of 47 months between the GTA 5 and Ballad of Gay Tony. If the launch date for the GTA 6 is Fall 2020, it would mean a gap of 83 months (or almost seven years) between the GTA 5 and GTA 6.

Speaking to Gaming Bolt, gaming analyst Michael Pachter says the game won’t be announced in 2020, or released until 2021. The analyst cites the eight year gap between the Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Redemption as as example.

Many things that this new GTA 6 leak talks about have already been heard. Still, all these details must be taken with a pinch of salt. So far there has been no official information from Rockstar, except for the comments from Rockstar North’s former President in 2013.

“We don’t know what GTA 6 will be, but we’ve got some ideas,” said Benzies in an interview with Develop magazine. “We’ve got about 45 years’ worth of ideas we want to do. We’ll pick the right ones. It comes from the idea first. Where it is going to be set is the first question.”
