Samsung has now officially confirmed what the rumor mill told us several weeks ago. The Korean electronics heavyweight is going to unveil its next-gen Galaxy Note 10 flagship on Wednesday, August 7th in New York, according to an official invitation. The Galaxy Note 10 Unpacked event will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the same venue where last year’s Note 9 was unveiled.
The event is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. EDT in New York, which is 1 p.m. Pacific Time, 9 p.m. BST, and 6 a.m. AEST. The event invitation includes a black S Pen stylus and a single camera lens on a white background. The S Pen is the signature feature of the Note line, enhancing productivity and allowing users to jot down quick notes.
Recent reports suggest the S Pen accompanying the Note 10 would have a camera of its own. The device is expected to go on sale a couple of weeks after the Galaxy Note 10 Unpacked event. Samsung’s chief executive DJ Koh has already confirmed that the upcoming model would be called Galaxy Note 10. Samsung fans will be able to watch the live stream of the event on Samsung’s website.
The link to the Galaxy Note 10 Unpacked event invite says the launch would “take the Galaxy’s connected ecosystem to the next level.” Samsung is expected to upgrade the Bixby AI assistant and integrate it more deeply into its ecosystem. Samsung SmartThings play lags far behind Amazon and Google.
The Korean company could unveil more than just Note 10 at the event to strengthen its “connected ecosystem.” It already has an installed base of hundreds of millions of users that it can leverage to sell its smart home devices.
Recently leaked case renders suggest the Galaxy Note 10 would get the same design treatment as the Galaxy S10 series that debuted a few months ago. It would have a notch-less and bezel-less design with a hole-punch display to accommodate the selfie camera. The hole will be moved from the top-right corner to the top-center of the screen. It appears there will only be a single selfie camera. By comparison, the Galaxy S10 Plus had two front-facing cameras.
The S Pen stylus is also expected to get new features. There have been conflicting reports about whether the Note 10 would get the 3.5mm headphone jack. Samsung has so far resisted the temptation to ditch the audio jack, but some reports claim it could remove the feature from the Note 10.

The Note 10 series would pack up to 12GB RAM. Depending on the market, it would be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor or Samsung’s in-house Exynos 9820. According to the rumor mill, the Korean company would launch the Note 10 in two different screen sizes. There will be a 6.3-inch standard Galaxy Note 10 and a larger 6.75-inch Galaxy Note 10 Pro. Both devices are said to be available in 4G and 5G variants.
Last month, Korea Economic Daily reported that the Galaxy Note 10 series would come with Microsoft’s Windows pairing app ‘Your Phone’ pre-installed. The Your Phone app allows you to mirror your phone’s screen on your Windows PC. It also lets users access their phone’s content such as photos, videos, and messages right on the computer.
One thing that Samsung fans would be eager to hear about at the Unpacked event – or before it – is the launch date of the foldable device Galaxy Fold. Samsung was supposed to launch the $1980 phone in April, but decided to delay it after early reviewers encountered a number of issues with the device. The company executives have promised again and again to announce a new launch date, but it’s still unclear when the device would come out.
The Galaxy Note line is not as popular as Samsung’s Galaxy S series, but it has built its own fan base. It was the Note line that categorized the phablet category. The first Galaxy Note with a 5.3-inch display launched in 2011. The upcoming Note 10 would compete with Apple’s upcoming iPhone 11 series during the holiday shopping season. The new Note would be available with 5G capabilities while the iPhone 11 would continue to use the 4G LTE connectivity.
