Solar-Powered Smart Table Can Charge All Your Mobile Devices At Once

Updated on

Wireless charging for mobile devices has become a must have feature, as users like the ability to simply lay their device on a charging pad rather than having to plug it up each time. Now, a Spanish firm has unveiled a solar-powered smart table that can charge up to 4 devices at the same time.

Ebörd -The Solar-Powered Smart Table

According to Business Recorder, Ebörd was unveiled by Proton New Energy Future, a Spanish startup company. The table features a smooth top that has a sleek smooth finish. The dark glass top is accented by a polished metal frame that is eye catching at the least. However, its best attributes are hidden by the sleek exterior.

Ebörd has the ability to harvest energy from both the sun and artificial light sources. The energy can then be transmitted to devices that support Qi charging technology by simply laying the device on the table. Under the glass surface are more than 50 charging coils and a 10Ah battery that allows the solar-powered smart table to store and transmit energy to the devices.

Qi Technology

Since Ebörd uses Qi technology to charge devices, many current models are already supported. These include several generations of the iPhone and Galaxy models, as well as Google’s Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL. There are also a number of phones from Sony, Nokia, and LG that are also supported. There are many different accessories that also support Qi charging technology, such as smart watches, earbuds, and tablets. If you happen to own a device that does not support the Qi platform, then the company offers 2 adapters that built into the solar-powered smart  table.

Additional Features

The solar-powered smart table is a giant step towards reducing power consumption by mobile devices, in that it uses light energy to provide power. However, it also has some interesting characteristics which make it even more useful. The table is waterproof and solid enough to be used as a standard table, as well as a charging station. Some models will even feature bonuses, like LED lighting and Bluetooth surround sound speakers.

Availability

Ebörd is scheduled to be available for shipping sometime in November. The solar-powered smart table is available for 18 more days on IndieGoGo for a price of $450, which is a 50% discount of what the retail price is expected to be when the device officially launches in November. Technology is advancing, and this is just one more example of ways companies are managing to help consumers use more renewable energy resources in an effort to reduce carbon emissions. It will be interesting to see what they come up with next.
