Galaxy A90 Tipped To Offer Snapdragon 855, 5G, 45W Fast Charging

Updated on

So far 5G has mostly been limited to high-end variants from smartphone makers. However, Samsung is reportedly planning to bring 5G to its mid-range Galaxy A-series, specifically, the Galaxy A90.

This new information comes from trusted tipster OnLeaks, who claims the Korean company is working on two versions of the Galaxy A90 with the model numbers A905 and A908. One of the two is believed to a 5G variant.

Both phones are expected to feature a 6.7-inch screen, an in-display fingerprint sensor and a Snapdragon 855 chipset. Further, the tipster says the standard model will feature a triple-lens camera setup of 48MP + 12MP + 5MP with “tilt OIS” technology, while the 5G model will feature a 48MP + 8MP + 5MP setup.

Previous rumors hinted that the handset would offer a full-screen display and a pop-up selfie camera. There have also been rumors about the Galaxy A90 featuring an all-screen design similar to that of the Galaxy S80, which debuted a couple of months ago with a rotating triple-lens camera.

Another popular tipster, Ice Universe, tweeted recently that the Galaxy A90 5G could be among the first Samsung phones to support 45W fast charging. Currently the Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy A70 feature the fastest charging tech (25W) among Samsung smartphones.

There is no information on pricing yet, but the Galaxy A90 is expected to cost much more than the Galaxy A80. Samsung’s Galaxy A80 is priced at 649 euros (approx. $737), but it is powered by the Snapdragon 730 chipset. It will be interesting to see if Samsung prices the A90 above or below the Galaxy S10e. The Galaxy S10e is priced at $749 and is so far the cheapest Samsung phone to pack the Snapdragon 855.

Currently the cheapest 5G phone is Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 3 5G, which comes with a price tag of 599 euros (approx. $680). Although the Galaxy A90 5G may not be able to beat that price, it still will be more affordable than the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G ($1,260) and Galaxy S10 5G ($1,299).

Meanwhile, rumors and reports continue about another upcoming Samsung phone, the Galaxy Note 10. The retailer MobileFun received a list of official Galaxy Note 10 accessories with their prices and SKU numbers. The list does not include any new cases or accessories. All these accessories have been seen before, with the only difference being that they are now marked for the upcoming Galaxy Note phone.

The accessory list includes two code-names: Davinci 1 and Davinci 2. It is speculated that Davinci 1 refers to the Galaxy Note 10, while Davinci 2 will be the Galaxy Note 10 Pro or 5G. It’s possible that there will be two Pro variants, a 4G and 5G.

The accessories list also includes several kinds of cases, including leather, silicone, a protective standing cover, an LED view cover, an LED cover, and Clear View. All the cases have SKUs for both “Davinci 1” and “Davinci 2” with prices ranging from £24.99 to £59.99. The cases are listed in several colors, such as silver, pink, red, black, white, and gray. Additionally, the leather covers are listed with unique colors like blue and “camel.”

Samsung has long been expected to announce the Galaxy Note 10 in August, considering that previous Note-series phones have been released in the same month. Now a Samsung official has also confirmed the August timeline for the Galaxy Note 10.

An unnamed official recently told the Korea Herald that the Galaxy Note 10 “will have its own timeline for its debut in August, regardless of the Galaxy Fold’s launch schedule.” This comment comes in response to fears that the delay in the Galaxy Fold could also push back the release date for the Galaxy Note 10. This does not appear to be the case, and the Galaxy Note 10 will likely stick to an August release.

The Galaxy Note 10 is expected to feature a 6.8-inch screen and come with a Galaxy S10-inspired design. Rumors suggest the handset will have a quad-lens camera and come with a 4,500mAh battery. The handset is expected to support 25W fast charging, while there have been rumors of 45W wired charging as well.

The Galaxy Note 10 will likely be powered by faster Exynos 9825/Snapdragon 855 processors and feature 12 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. The Exynos 9825 is an update from the Exynos 9820 and is believed to be Samsung’s first 7nm chip with support for 5G.
