Is YouTube’s “Watch Later” Button Missing For You? Here’s A Workaround

Updated on

With all its features, YouTube has become an indispensable part many people’s lives now. It boasts many useful features, and one such feature is Watch Later, which allows users to save a video to watch later. However, over the past few days, YouTube’s “Watch Later” button has been acting buggy, and many users are saying that it is missing.

YouTube’s “Watch Later” button missing

Users have taken to product forums and social platforms such as Reddit and Twitter to complain about the issue.

“I am trying to save a video in my feed to watch later but the ‘button’ is not there. I have done this many times before with no problem. This problem has only occurred today,” one YouTube user said.

Users say they have tried several tricks, but nothing seems to be working. One user said he tried logging in and out and making space by deleting some videos, but nothing solved the issue.

Some users even thought YouTube permanently removed the “Watch later” button. However, this is certainly not the case. One Google employee recently admitted to the issue and assured users that the company is working on a fix.

“We didn’t remove the watch later icon / button! This is related to a technical issue and we’re currently working to fix it,” the YouTube team said in a Reddit post.

In another post, the YouTube team member suggested a workaround until the issue is fixed, reports PiunikaWeb. Users can still access the “Watch Later” button by clicking on the three-dot menu next to the video title.

“As a workaround until the issue is resolved, you can click on the three dot menu on the right of the video title and add to watch later. If you’re not seeing video previews, you can go to ‘watch’ instead of preview,” a member of the YouTube team said.

It’s good that YouTube acknowledged the issue and offered a workaround on all platforms where users reported the complaint. Hopefully the video-sharing platform will resolve the issue soon.

YouTube’s “Watch Later” button is a clock-like icon that becomes visible when you hover over the video thumbnail. Clicking or tapping the “Watch Later” icon adds the video to your playlist so you can watch it later.

Issue with YouTube Analytics

YouTube also recently acknowledged another issue with its platform. However, this issue is not on the consumer side; rather, it is troubling content creators. The issue is with the Analytics feature, which provides content creators details about their channel’s performance, traffic, demographic reports and more.

Other than this data, the Analytics tool also gives estimated earnings and their sources. However, over the past few days, content creators have been complaining that the estimated earnings tool is delaying their estimated revenue instead, notes tech site PiunikaWeb. Affected users have taken to product forums and other social platforms to complain about the issue.

“Revenue update in YouTube analytics delayed for already 3 days. Please, fix this problem soon,” one user said.

In some cases, the delay is four days, while in a few cases, the delay is five days. Some users were also concerned about whether the delay could result in them losing earnings. One user assured others that the same issue occurred in the past, but their earnings were not lost.

“The important thing is that it’s happening to many people.  I would only be concerned if it we’re just me that was experiencing the issue,” the user said.

Google was also quick to acknowledge the problem earlier this week.

“On May 1, at approximately 5pm PST, a bug caused Google Ads reporting for April 30 and May 1 (Pacific Time) to be incorrect. This bug impacts reports in all Google Ads interfaces, including any report data downloaded via the AdWords API, Google Ads API and Google Ads Scripts,” the search giant said.

Further, the company assured affected users that it is working on a fix.

Google AdSense was hit by a worldwide outage in April which affected page views, estimated earnings and other metrics. The bug ensured that metrics such as impressions, clicks, earnings and page views were not updated in the AdSense Dashboard. The AdSense glitch may have affected YouTube Analytics’ feature, resulting in a delay in estimated earnings for content creators.
