Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 4 is less than a week away, and fans are excitedly discussing ideas about what it might hold. Now that the Battle of Winterfell is done and the Night King is supposedly dead, the number of theories about “The Last War,” as Daenerys calls it, is increasing rapidly.

Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 4 trailer released

HBO released the trailer for Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 4 on YouTube:

As you can see, the trailer indicates that another war is coming, although fans would certainly be disappointed if that wasn’t the case. In the next war, it looks like Jon and Dany’s forces will face off with Cersei’s army. Most theories suggest that Episode 4 won’t actually cover the war itself, but rather the setup for the impending battle. Based on how the first two episodes of Season 8 were used to prepare for the Battle of Winterfell in Episode 3, we would expect something similar for the next big battle.

More deaths ahead

The hit HBO series is very widely known for killing off main characters on a regular basis, and we expect more of the same in the last three episodes. Forbes contributor Erik Kain predicts a battle that’s “not quite so epic” between the forces of the living in the last three episodes. He also suggests that at some point in the next three episodes, Dany and the Starks will get into a conflict, and Tyrion will be caught in the middle. He expects Sandor and Gregor Clegane to fight finally.

However, he expects Episode 4 to merely lay the groundwork for everything he predicts will happen before the show concludes. This is in line with what we would expect. Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 4 will likely be a setup episode with perhaps a couple major revelations.

Stylecaster recalled a quote from Season 3 in which Melisandre told Arya she will shut “brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes” forever. In other words, it was a prophecy that she would kill people with eyes those colors. She’s already checked the boxes for blue eyes (the Night King) and brown eyes (Meryn Trant and Walder Frey). Green eyes are a common trait of the Lannisters, so it’s generally assumed that she will kill one of them, possibly even Cersei, although there was a prophesy that Jaime would kill her. Thus, it’s suggested that Arya will take his face somehow and kill Cersei.

However, Kain believes Jaime will actually be the one to kill Cersei. Either way, it sounds like almost everyone expects Cersei to die.

Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 4 is scheduled to air on May 5, and according to GameSpot, it’s 78 minutes long. Episode 3 was the series’ most-watched episode ever.
