CIA Created ISIS According To Wikileaks Founder

Updated on

According to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange the CIA created ISIS as a result of decisions made back in 1979. Wikileaks is known for having released thousands of classified US government communications. These releases have, at times, left agents of various US agencies in dangerous situations with their cover blown. The actions have also earned Assange the hatred of many high ranking US officials. However, his organization has never once had to recant a story they have released because it was not true.

CIA Created ISIS And al-Qaeda

In a report from Express.co we see that 2016 was indeed a year for information leaks. The November 2016 release from Wikileaks included communications from 1979 under the leadership of President Jimmy Carter. The documents, commonly known as the “Carter Cables” indicate that the United States helped arm Mujahideen in Afghanistan to help them fight the Soviets. The US poured billions of dollars into this project, and it fueled the creation of al-Qaeda. This in turn would lead to ISIS, which is why Assange claims the CIA created ISIS.

Documenting Evidence Backs Up Claims

Wikileaks released a total of 531,525 diplomatic cables from high ranking officials to support the claims. As always, the story has not had to be retracted, because the proof was made public. While no one really knows how Assange has managed to compile all the information and then get it into the public eye without getting caught, not everyone is thankful for it. While some Americans believe that he is doing the world a service by exposing the actions of government agencies, others prefer the information to remain hidden. For those who have found their safety compromised by his information releases, whether or not the CIA created ISIS isn’t a primary concern. Even with evidence that backs up his claims, Julian Assange often finds himself heavily criticized by media and government officials.

What Was The Role Of The US?

Assange explains how the CIA created ISIS by saying, “in the Middle East, the Iranian revolution, the Saudi Islamic uprising and the Egypt-Israel Camp David Accords led not only to the present regional power dynamic but decisively changed the relationship between oil, militant Islam and the world. The uprising at Mecca permanently shifted Saudi Arabia towards Wahhabism, leading to the transnational spread of Islamic fundamentalism and the US-Saudi destabilization of Afghanistan.” This destabilization led to Osama bin Laden leaving Saudi Arabia to aid the Mujahideen. Wikileaks release of the “Carter Cables” supports this fact.

It All Began In 1979

According to Wikileaks, the CIA created ISIS in 1979, although we would not actually hear the name until 30 years later. The chain of events is carefully documented with diplomatic communications, and there is no denying the US involvement in the Middle East. The actions of government agents and officials eventually caused the collapse of the Soviet Union, leading to the rise of al-Qaeda and ISIS.
