The Game of Thrones brand has grown so big that even the biggest brands want to associate with it, including Sony. The Japanese company has released a Game of Thrones PS4 theme and avatars in the U.S. for free.
How to get the free Game of Thrones PS4 theme and avatars
Most fans would say Sony’s Game of Thrones PS4 theme and avatars are pretty amazing. The most attractive of the lot is the free Game of Thrones theme, which features a dragon animation that transitions between fire and ice.
“Get your PS4™ console ready for the final season with these limited edition Game of Thrones avatars and theme brought to you by PlayStation™ Vue. Begin your quest by watching each of the videos to redeem each reward,” Sony said in a post.

To get the free Game of Thrones PS4 theme and avatars, all you need to do is watch videos of interviews with the Game of Thrones actors and give insight into the show and the characters. The avatars are not only for the characters but also for House Sigils, which means players can show respect to the house they like the most.
“Support the house you think should rule the Seven Kingdoms,” Sony says.
Here are the detailed steps for unlocking the free theme and avatars.
First, log into your PSN account via a web browser and watch the video under “Watch to redeem.” After the video is over, click “Redeem Here” to redeem the code and download the theme and avatars onto your PS4. You can view the video via this link.
You can then use the downloaded avatars for your profile. To change your profile’s avatar, log into your PS4 system and then go to Profile > Edit Profile > Avatar. The free avatars include all the main characters in the show, including Brienne of Tarth, Samwell Tarly, Arya Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Sansa Stark, Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, Jamie Lannister, Bran Stark, John Snow, Lord Varys and Davos Seaworth.
The free Game of Thrones PS4 theme and avatars are for a limited time only, so get them before they are no longer offered. The characters are available until May 13, and they must be redeemed by May 31.
More freebies for God of War’s first anniversary
Sony is also giving away freebies to fans of the action game God of War. The Japanese company is celebrating the first anniversary of the game. To mark the occasion, Sony has released a new theme for the PS4. This free theme shows Kratos and Atreus in the Lake of Nine.
Later this week, Sony will also be releasing God of War avatars for the PS4 users. These avatars will also be free. You don’t need to own or purchase God of War for the PS4 to get your hands on the freebies.
“In honor of you, our fans, we’re starting a week-long celebration of the one-year anniversary of this God of War. I’m very happy to indulge you with a small token of our appreciation,” Shannon Studstill, head of God of War developer Sony Santa Monica, said in a blog post.
To grab these freebies, go to the PlayStation Store and download the theme. On your PS4, open the store and then go to “add-ons” and then “themes.”
God of War has won several awards since its release last year. It won the Game of the Year title at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) last month and the same title at the D.I.C.E. Awards in February and the Game Awards in December. Earlier this month, it bagged the BAFTA for best game. Additionally, it won three more BAFTAs for Music, Audio Achievement and Narrative.
“God of War earned accolades for its mature narrative, dazzling visuals and refined combat gameplay,” read a statement on the GDC’s website.
Sony Santa Monica will also celebrate 20 years in 2019. In addition to creating the God of War series, the studio has collaborated with several developers for many PS2, PS3, PS4 and Vita games. Some of its other popular titles are Warhawk, Fat Princess, Twisted Metal and The Order: 1886.
