Apex Legends is the latest battle royale title to take the gaming world by storm. Just three days after its launch, it has already hit 10 million players. In comparison, Fortnite took two weeks to achieve the same milestone. So if you are also fascinated by the game’s popularity and want to download Apex Legends without any issues, here is what you  need to know.

How to download Apex Legends on PS4 and Xbox one

Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game. The game is set in the Titanfall universe and includes elements of many popular online shooters, like Overwatch-style hero characters and Fortnite and PUBG-like core gameplay. Apex Legends was developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts.

The game was announced, revealed and released all on Feb. 4. In the game, “legendary characters with powerful abilities team up to battle fame and fortune on the fringes of the Frontier,” the developer said. Currently the game is available to play on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

To download Apex Legends on the PS4, go to the PSN Store and search fo Apex Legends. It will be listed under the free tab and also under the featured games or new games. Once you find the game, select “install,” and that’s it.

You can also start the installation process for the PS4 from a browser on your PC. To do it this way, go to the Apex Legends PSN Store page and add it to the cart. Now complete the transaction (the game is free) and queue up the installation via the computer if your PS4 is in rest mode.

Players do not require a PlayStation Plus subscription to participate in online play, but you will need a minimum of 20 GB of free space to load the game. To learn more about the PS4 requirements for the game, go to the PSN Store page.

Downloading the game on the Xbox One is just as easy as it is on the PS4. Go to the store page, find the game and select “install.” Players can also add the game to their account by visiting the Apex Legends Microsoft Store page. To add the game, you will need to have your Xbox One linked to your Microsoft account.

You must also have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription to play the game online. The total installed size of the game on the Xbox One is about 31.66 GB. To learn more about Apex Legends‘ requirements for the Xbox One, visit the official store page.

How to download Apex Legends on PC

Downloading the game on a PC is a bit trickier. First you will have to install EA’s Origin platform and then create an account, which you can do by visiting the official Origin download page. After installing Origin, go to the Store and search for the Apex Legends page. Once you find it, add the game to your library.

You can also install the game directly from the official Apex Legends storefront page. Unlike console players, PC players don’t have to subscribe to any subscription service for the multiplayer mode. PC users will need about 12.7 GB of free space for the game.

As far as system requirements, the game seems to be rather demanding. The minimum requirements for the game are: 64-bit Windows 7 or newer (OS), AMD FX 4350 processor or equivalent, Intel Core i3 6300 chip or equivalent, 6 GB of DDR3 @1333 RAM and 22 GB of hard-drive space, AMD Radeon™ HD 7730 or NVIDIA GeForce® GT 640 graphics; and DirectX: 11 compatible video card or equivalent. As for the internet connection, EA says a speed of 512 KBPS or faster is required.

EA’s recommended requirements are: 64-bit Windows 7 or newer (OS), Ryzen 5 CPU or equivalent, Intel Core i5 3570K or equivalent, 8 GB of DDR3 @1333 RAM and 22 GB of hard-drive space, AMD Radeon™ R9 290 or NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 970 graphics card, and DirectX: 11 compatible video card or equivalent. EA also recommends a broadband connection for uninterrupted gaming.

Will it come to iOS, Android and Switch?

Apex Legends is currently not available on mobile devices or the Nintendo Switch, but there is a good chance the developer will support all these platforms going ahead.

Respawn Lead Producer Drew McCoy told Eurogamer there’s “nothing [they] can currently talk about” when asked about mobile and Switch versions. It must be noted that the executive didn’t said no outright, which suggests the developer may have plans they can’t talk about now.

Additionally, the game does not support cross-play, but Respawn has plans to support it at some point in the future.
