Game Of Thrones Season 8 Spoiler May Reveal Jon Snow’s Fate

Updated on

Game Of Thrones (GoT) Season 8 is undoubtedly the most-anticipated show of all time (at least for me). With so many unanswered questions, fans are anxiously waiting for their favorite show, whose release date was announced recently. Since the Season 8 release date was announced, the pace of spoilers has picked up. The latest Game of Thrones Season 8 spoiler may reveal a big secret about Jon Snow’s fate.

Game Of Thrones Season 8 spoiler: Jon may not survive the war

One big question every GoT fan wants answered is what will happen to Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington). Although most viewers believe he will end up on the Iron Throne, Harington recently posted an image of himself which suggests his character won’t reappear any time soon, according to Express.

In Harington’s picture, he had a haircut. This comes as a surprise as he has been keeping the Jon Snow look since the beginning of the show. It clearly suggests we won’t see Harington is any subsequent Game of Thrones spin-off series. Harington’s haircut photo answers one question, but it raises another.

Since he posted the image, speculations that Jon Snow may not survive the war have been running rampant. Many believe the show will end with many major characters losing their lives in the massive battle. Other fans believe Jon Snow and Jaime Lannister (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) will clash in the final season.

“I’ve noticed a few parallels between the two that could make for an interesting dynamic between them. I’m sure there are more but to name a few,” noted a Reddit user.

The parallels the Reddit user is talking about are that both have broken personal vows for the greater good, both proposed a single combat to end a war, and both are “involved in incestuous relationships.”

“Especially the last point. When Jon inevitably finds out about his Targaryen heritage I’d love to see what advice Jaime could give him on the matter,” the user said.

How will Snow’s identity be revealed?

In another potential Game Of Thrones Season 8 spoiler, fans have offered a believable theory about how Jon Snow could learn about his royal lineage.

Snow’s true parentage was revealed in the final moments of Season 7. Fans were surprised to know that Snow, who so far had been referred to as a bastard, is actually the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. This could mean Daenerys Targaryen, whom Jon slept with prior to this revealing, is his aunt. Following this revelation, many theories have suggested how Snow’s identity will finally be revealed. This theory from Reddit users seems very believable:

“Personally, I think in one of the major battles he’s going to get blasted with dragon fire and Daenerys will think he’s dead, only to see him emerge unburnt like herself,” one Reddit user notes.

You may remember that Daenerys was placed on a pyre, but she wasn’t burned. This suggests the Targaryens are immune to fire. So far, Snow has not faced a fire, but if the Night King’s undead dragon attacks him with fire, his real identity could be revealed.

Will Sam emerge as the real hero?

Another potential Game Of Thrones Season 8 spoiler is related to the hero in the Season 8 battle, as in, the person who will kill the Night King. One Reddit user believes the answer could be in the dialogue when King Robert Baratheon recalls his first kill in Season 1 Episode 3.

“[It] was some Tarly boy at the Battle of Summerhall,” he says. “He came running at me, this dumb highborn lad, thinking he could end the rebellion with a single swing of his sword. I knocked him down with a hammer … Stupid boy.”

Many believe this could be foreshadowing another battle, this time against the Night King.

“I think there’s a chance Sam, the last living Tarly, will use Heartsbane to kill the Night King with a single swing of his sword and bring an end to the Great War,” one Reddit user wrote.

Another Redditor suggests Sam could even be Azor Ahai. Based on the ancient legend, Ahai killed his wife, Nissa Nissa, during the Long Night. Then her soul combined with the sword to create Lightbringer.  Although Sam is less likely to be Ahai than other characters like Snow and Daenerys, it could be an unexpected twist.
