Fortnite Season 6 Launch Date, Skins, Battle Pass And More

Updated on

Epic Games has just released the Week 8 challenges for Fortnite Season 5. And we are only a few weeks away from the Fortnite Season 6 that is expected to bring new skins, a new theme, a new battle pass, and some changes to the map. Let’s take a look at what we expect from the upcoming seasonal event in Epic Games’ Battle Royale.

Fortnite Season 6 launch date

Epic Games hasn’t officially announced when the Season 6 would start. But we have a fair idea of how long the seasons tend to last: about two months. The Season 5 was launched on July 12, and it is expected to end in mid-September. In the past, Fortnite has never taken a break between seasons. So, if past pattern is any indication, the Fortnite Season 6 could launch between Sept.20-25. But there is almost always an element of surprise.

The surprise is that the Season 5 Battle Pass countdown previously indicated the Season 5 would end on Sept.17. Now the countdown suggests it will end on Sept.24. However, the rumor mill claims that the Season 5 end date could be pushed back to Tuesday, Oct.2.

It means Epic Games could release Fortnite Season 6 on Oct.3 or Oct.4. But considering the kind of work that goes into the backend, there could be a few days of gap between the Season 5 end date and Season 6 launch date.

How much will the Battle Pass cost?

Epic Games would bring a new Battle Pass when Fortnite Season 6 becomes available. Players are required to buy the Battle Pass only once per season, allowing you to increase your reward tier. The Season 6 basic Battle Pass is expected to cost 950 V-Bucks. For the uninitiated, V-Bucks are the currency used in Fortnite. One V-Buck equals roughly 1 cent (1,000 V-Bucks are $9.99).

If you are a hardcore gamer, you can choose to buy the upgraded Battle Pass, which would be a bit more expensive but would offer extra reward tiers to unlock cosmetic items.

What new character skins to expect?

Epic Games hasn’t indicated what new skins it plans to include in Fortnite Season 6. The previous seasons gave users two new skins upon buying the Battle Pass. The Season 6 Battle Pass should also give you two new skins that you won’t find in the Fortnite store.

We expect to see more cultures and time periods as skins if the Seasons 6 goes further into time-travel. Maybe we’ll see Aztec and Mayan skins, or maybe Medieval knights. Anything could happen in the skins department.

What will be the theme?

There is no official word on this either, but we have identified some clues. Epic Games indicated in a tease for the Capoeira emote that we could see a castle in the game. And then the Season 5 Battle Pass has the ‘Crazy Castle’ spray, suggesting that the Fortnite Season 6 could get a Medieval/fantasy theme.

Map changes

The castle could be a new addition. Beyond that, there is little clarity on the map changes. The cube could trigger radical changes to the locations. When the rocket launched in the previous season, every single area it passed through had been altered except the Loot Lake. Epic Games could bring some major changes to the Loot Lake, especially if the cube is headed in that direction.

Epic Games recently made Fortnite available on Android devices, beginning with Samsung’s brand new Galaxy Note 9. If you have a compatible Android device, you could enjoy the Season 6 on your smartphone.
