Has Microsoft Store Revealed Darksiders 3 Release Date?

Updated on

Darksiders 3 was first announced in May 2017, and since then the fans have been anxiously waiting for this apocalyptic hack-and-slash game. There was suspense over the Darksiders 3 release date, but it seems like the Microsoft Store may have accidentally leaked it now.

Darksiders 3 release date

The Microsoft Store lists the Darksiders 3 release date as November 27, 2018. This comes as yet another leak in the gaming industry as Amazon recently leaked games like Bloodborne 2, Sunset Overdrive 2 and more. The leak by the Microsoft Store, however, must be taken with a pinch of salt as November 27 is a Tuesday, which is not a popular day for the release of games.

But, since its coming directly from the Microsoft Store, it might still be true. What’s interesting to note is the slip-up is actually still there on the Microsoft Store at the time of this writing. Normally, one would expect such leaks to be quickly pulled down. This might suggest that the official reveal of the game is not far away.

Also, this is not the first leak this month from Microsoft. Recently, the HD remaster’s page for the first two entries in the Shenmue series revealed that it would release in August. Later, Sega confirmed that the leak was in fact true. Shenmue’s leak further lends credence to the Darksiders 3 release date revealed on the Microsoft Store. For now, there have been no comments from either Microsoft or THQ Nordic on the leak.

When Darksiders III was first announced in May 2017, the game’s Steam page even showed the probable launch date as late 2018. THQ Nordic completely skipped the E3 2018, so there are good chances that we may hear something about the game at Gamescom 2018. THQ Nordic missed the E3 because of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but they assured the fans of presenting all our great upcoming games like Darksiders 3, Biomutant, Fade to Silence or Wreckfest and even some unannounced titles for the first time at gamescom in Cologne, Germany and shortly after at PAX West in Seattle!”

Gamescom is the world’s biggest gaming convention. Last year, the event attracted 350,000 visitors, the highest ever for Gamescom. This year’s Gamescom is scheduled from August 21 to August 25, 2018, in Cologne, Germany.  This will be the 10th Gamescom event since its debut in Cologne in 2009.

To come in three editions

In addition to the Darksiders III release date, the leak also detailed the three editions of the game. The Blades & Whip Edition costs about $90 and includes a special Pre-Order Bonus Armor skin and two DLCs that will be launched after the release of the Darksiders III. Further, for the ultimate Darksiders experience, this edition also offers Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition and Darksiders Warmastered Edition. The pre-order incentive for the Blades & Whip Edition includes 24-hour early access and a 10% discount.

Second, the Deluxe Edition costs $72 and includes a special Pre-Order Bonus Armor skin and two paid DLCs, which will launch after Darksiders III. Pre-order incentive is the same as The Blades & Whip Edition.

Next is the Standard Edition, which costs $60. It includes Darksiders III and a special Pre-Order Bonus Armor skin.

Darksiders III  – what to expect?

Darksiders III comes after a gap of six years due to the developer THQ’s bankruptcy and reorganization. In the first installment, players get to control War, who falls into trouble for accidentally showing up at work early. In the second, Death works to clear his brother’s name and also save humanity.

Darksiders III continues the story of the biblical Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who in their journey uncover a conspiracy that resulted in End Times coming earlier than expected. The latest version features a female “Horseman” – Fury. She will be tasked to destroy the Seven Deadly Sins, and in the process, bring some order on the planet Earth. The game is developed by Gunfire Games, which includes several former Vigil developers.

“Return to an apocalyptic Earth in Darksiders III, a hack-n-slash Action Adventure where players assume the role of FURY in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The most unpredictable and enigmatic of the Four Horsemen, FURY must succeed where many have failed – to bring balance to the forces that now ravage Earth,” reads the description of the game. The game will be available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
