According to the report, Google officials said that the feeing service won’t change and that there won’t be any merging between services. The company will retain its AdSense and AdMob brands in order to continue generating ad sales technologies that help small websites as well as mobile app developers draw revenue.
However, Google AdWords is now on its way towards retirement and being replaced with Google Ads, which is, as its name suggests, also a tool used for buying ads, with access to inventory on Google search, YouTube video service, and the Google Play app store. Google aims to make the default user interface for Google Ads simpler than it was before. Moreover, users will be able to make a better design of ads and determine where they should be running.
Aiming for simplicity
The software Google Ads will use for ad buyers will be called Google Marketing Platform, while Google Ads Manager will also be a tool that will be used by larger sellers.
Brian Wieser, a senior financial analyst that follows the advertising companies for Pivotal Research told Reuters that Google’s services created “a lot of confusion” for users, and caused the industry not to grow that way.
“It doesn’t help that Google … leaves us guessing on the relative size and trajectory of what are strategically important businesses,” he told Reuters.
As per Reuters, Google’s senior vice president for ads, Sridhar Ramaswamy told reporters on Tuesday that advertisers were a lot confused that they needed to buy ads on YouTube going to Google AdWords. According to him, Google Ads need to serve as an all embracing “front door,” he said.
Google AdWords launched in 2000 in order to make it possible to advertise different products and services by placing text ads in search. DoubleClick advertising software came in 2008.
“You’ll start to see the new Google Ads, Google Marketing Platform and Google Ad Manager brands over the next month,” Sridhar Ramaswamy said in a blog post announcement of the Google Ads.
