Fox Business Network Dominates CNBC In Business Day Viewers For 16th Consecutive Week

“Lou Dobbs Tonight” and “Varney & Co” Continue as Top Rated Programs in Business News

FOX Business Network (FBN) continued its winning streak over CNBC, topping the network in Business Day and Market Hours viewers during the heavily dominated financial news week of May 28th –June 1st, according to Nielsen Media Research. Following market swings and the release of the May jobs report, FBN’s Business Day coverage saw a 17 percent advantage over rival CNBC with 169,000 total viewers compared to CNBC’s 144,000 for the week. FBN also overtook CNBC in the crucial Market Hours daypart (9:30AM-4PM), delivering 172,000 viewers compared to CNBC’s 144,000.

Marking 54 consecutive weeks as the most-watched market program on television, Varney & Co (weekdays, 9AM-12PM/ET) once again topped its CNBC competition with 246,000 total viewers compared to 160,000. Along with Varney & Co., Countdown to the Closing Bell with Liz Claman (3-4PM/ET) also ranked in the top three rated business programs for the week, sweeping its CNBC competition in total viewers (190,000) and in the A25-54 demo (24,000).

Continuing as the overall leader in business news, Lou Dobbs Tonight (7PM/ET) was once again the number one rated news program in business television with 284,000 total viewers.  FBN’s post-market programs The Evening Edit with Elizabeth MacDonald (5-6PM/ET) and Making Money with Charles Payne (6-7PM) both outpaced their CNBC competition in total viewers for the week. Additionally, Mornings with Maria (6-9a/ET) anchored by Maria Bartiromo bested CNBC’s Squawk Box in total viewers during the release of the May jobs report on Friday, June 1st with 115,000 viewers compared to CNBC’s 91,000.
