Multiple Students Injured At Santa Fe High School Shooting In Texas


Reports are breaking of multiple students shot in a Santa Fe High School shooting earlier today. A suspect is currently in custody, and authorities report “multiple injuries.”

There have been confirmed injuries and a gunman is in custody following a shooting Friday morning at Santa Fe High School in Texas.

The Santa Fe Indepentdent School District confirmed the Santa Fe High School shooting and said that the situation had been “contained” in a recent post on the school’s Facebook page.

“This morning an incident occurred at the high school involving an active shooter. The situation is active, but has been contained. There have been confirmed injuries,” the school district wrote.

“Details will be released as we receive updated information. Law enforcement will continue to secure the building and initiate all emergency management protocols to release and move students to another location. All other campuses are operating under their regular schedules.”

New information suggests that the Santa Fe High School shooting started before 8 a.m. local time. At this point, it’s not clear what the status of the gunman is though the situation, as mentioned above, has apparently been “contained.” Several ambulances and Life Flight medevac helicopters were called to the school, which suggests that there were injuries requiring immediate medical attention.

In order to avoid more students shot, the Officers from the Galveston County Sherrif’s Office as well as nearby Harris County Sherriff’s Office responded to the scene, and examined student backpacks that were left to be checked by police. Agents from t he Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were also present on the scene.

After the students exited the school, they left their backpacks to be checked and filed onto a nearby grassy area alongside a row of school bussed. At this point, more students were searched by officers in order to potentially ascertain more information about the Santa Fe High School Shooting.

At this point it’s still unclear as to the extent of injuries or the identity of the gunman, and media outlets await more information from authorities regarding this tragic incident.
