How To Easily Download Free Ringtones On An iPhone

Updated on

Apple offers excellent accessibility through iTunes allowing a user to set songs as ringtones, but the choice often is limited and is not always what you want. You can buy some ringtones, but after already spending a significant portion of your income on buying the iPhone, spending money on ringtones is not everyone’s cup of tea. Another way around is to jailbreak the iPhone, but that has its own share of problems as well. However, there is one more way to download free ringtones on an iPhone without having to pay a single dime or jailbreak the phone.

In this article, we will tell you how to easily download free ringtones on an iPhone, and in the playable format. Apple App Store already has all the tools necessary for downloading and customization of the ringtones and also to download free ringtones on an iPhone without a jailbreak. So, all that is required of you is the knowledge and application of such tools and apps.

Well, to start, you will need to already have a few apps which would come in handy to download the free ringtones. The first one is Video Saver Pro (available in the App Store), which enables saving the content directly onto the device from the web platform. The second app you will need is GarageBand (also available in the App Store), but which usually comes installed on the new devices.

After you have downloaded these two apps, the next step is to launch the Video Saver Pro app and select the Internet Browsing option and then navigate to http://ringtone.vshare.com/. The page will show you a string of artists and available ringtones. A user needs to select the ringtone they want and then tap the button on the top-right corner. There would be a red badge on the button showing the number of tones available for the chosen artist. Press the download option for the ringtone you want.

After the ringtone is downloaded, press the Share button, and choose the Save to Files option to open the iOS files app. Select On My iPhone> GarageBand> File Transfer and then save the file. Now, the GarageBand app comes into the picture to stir a little magic on the file and make it ready to be used as the ringtone.

Launch the GarageBand app, and select the Audio Recorder option. Next, chose the option (second from the left with rectangles of different sizes), and then select the icon (a triangular shaped symbol) to the right of the Record button. Press the “+” icon on the right side of the screen. Next, chose the song, and enable the Automatic option, and then press done.

The next step in the process to download free ringtones on an iPhone is to click the loop icon followed by Music to search the track that you wish to convert into a ringtone. Click and hold on the song until you are returned to the timeline view, and then push the track on the top of the timeline. That’s it – the entire track is imported.

However, to use it as a ringtone you will need to resize it to about 30-40 seconds. You can select the portion of the track that you want to use, and drag it to the top of the timeline, and then click the track followed by Split. A scissors icon will appear on the top to help you cut the needed portion of the track. Repeat the same process with the part of the track that you don’t need and press delete.

Also, iTunes comes with an interesting feature of setting time parameters for the songs, where one can set the start and end time for the song. Once selected, iTunes would play only the selected portion of the track. This would be perfect for creating the proper ringtone length. Ringtones can be 40 seconds long, but if they are longer, it won’t get copied on the iPhone at all.

For texts, calendar events, emails and everything else, the ringtone cannot be longer than 30 seconds. In case it is longer than 30 seconds, it would not show up as an option for alert tones on the iPhone.

After adjusting the length, select the needed part and push it to the beginning of the timeline. To save it to My Songs, click the downward facing arrow. Next, chose Ringtone as the destination and also give a name to it (optional). You are done, and now you know how to download free ringtones on an iPhone.
