Fox Business Network Dominates CNBC Across Business Day And Total Day Viewers

“Lou Dobbs Tonight” and “Varney & Co” Continue as Top Rated Programs in Business News

FOX Business Network (FBN) continued its dominance over CNBC, besting the network in Business Day and Total Day viewers during the heavily dominated financial news week of April 9th –April 13th, according to Nielsen Media Research.  For the ninth straight week, FBN’s Business Day coverage saw a 29 percent advantage over rival CNBC with 246,000 total viewers compared to CNBC’s 190,000. In Total Day,  FBN was up 11 percent in total viewers (172,000) compared to CNBC’s 155,000 for the week.

Marking 47 consecutive weeks as the most-watched market program on television, “Varney & Co” (weekdays, 9AM-12PM/ET) swept its CNBC competition with 305,000 total viewers compared to 191,000, and delivered 42,000 in the A25-54 demo compared to 35,000. Along with Varney & Co, Countdown to the Closing Bell with Liz Claman also ranked in the top three most-watched business programs for the week, averaging 247,000 total viewers.

Continuing its reign as the leader in business news, Lou Dobbs Tonight was the number one news program in all of business television, averaging 333,000 total viewers.  CAVUTO Coast to Coast (12-2PM/ET) and After the Bell (4-5PM/ET) also dominated their CNBC competition in total viewers, both ranking in the top five rated programs for the week.

Additionally, Mornings with Maria (6-9a/ET) anchored by Maria Bartiromo bested CNBC’s Squawk Box during the influential pre-market hours with 109,000 total viewers compared to 99,000, while FBN’s post-market program Risk & Reward (5-6PM/ET) delivered its highest rated week of the year with 191,000 viewers.
