FBN SWEEPS CNBC IN BUSINESS DAY AND MARKET HOUR VIEWERS

Market Moves and Tariff News Leads FBN to Second Consecutive Weekly Ratings Win Across Total Viewers and the 25-54 Demo

FOX Business Network (FBN) continued its winning streak over CNBC, sweeping the network in Business Day and Market Hour viewers during the week of February 26th – March 2nd, according to Nielsen Media Research. Surrounding the announcement of President Trump’s plan for aluminum and steel tariffs which led to another 500+ point drop in the Dow, FBN’s Business Day coverage saw a 9 percent advantage over rival CNBC’s with 214,000 total viewers compared to 196,000 for the week, and a 7 percent advantage in the A25-54 demo with 32,000 viewers compared to CNBC’s 30,000 for the week. This was FBN’s second consecutive weekly ratings sweep over CNBC this year across total viewers and the demo.

FBN also overtook CNBC in the crucial market hour daypart (9:30AM-4PM), delivering 218,000 viewers compared to CNBC’s 199,000 this week, as well as 34,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo compared to CNBC’s 31,000.

Marking 41 consecutive weeks as the most-watched market-open program on television, “Varney & Co” (weekdays, 9AM-12PM/ET) toppled its CNBC competition with 259,000 total viewers compared to 209,000, and 45,000 in the demo compared to CNBC’s 37,000. Along with Varney, Liz Claman’s daily market-close program Countdown to the Closing Bell with Liz Claman (3-4PM/ET) also ranked in the top four market programs for the week averaging 206,000 total viewers.

Continuing its reign as the leader in business news, Lou Dobbs Tonight was the number one news program in all of business television, averaging 399,000 total viewers. Additionally, both CAVUTO Coast to Coast (12-2PM/ET) and After the Bell (4-5PM/ET) dominated it’s CNBC competition in total viewers for the third consecutive week.
