LG 4K Projector Revealed Ahead Of CES 2018

Updated on

While many companies are waiting until CES to reveal their latest and greatest product developments, an LG 4K projector has now been revealed.

LG 4K Projector

Although there are existing solutions for projecting 4K content, the LG 4K projector is about half the size of other options currently on the market. With existing models “heavy, expensive, and difficult to install” according to LG, the LG 4K projector offers a more convenient and less expensive way to project your 4K content.

The LG 4K projector is being advertised as a combination of affordability and premium design and features, and it is capable of projecting a massive 150-inch picture into any room of your house. The projector is also brighter than average, too, with reports that the device can top out at 2500 – the company’s brightest projector yet.

In addition to the high resolution offered by the LG 4K projector, the device also includes support for HDR video with HDR10. There are multiple options for setting up the equipment too, with LG stating that a floor mount, wall mount, or ceiling mount all work equally well.

The LG 4K projector does include speakers on its own, but there’s only two 7-watt speakers. If you’re going to splurge on this device for your home theater, it’s probably in your best interest to invest in a soundbar – or even a full-blown audio system. Audio works with optical, HDMI, and Bluetooth connections – so chances are you already have some audio solutions lying around that will work with the projector. To play media off the LG 4K projector, you can use a USB drive, and the device also supports a keyboard and mouse for easier navigation and access.

Perhaps the most convenient feature of the LG 4K projector is that it runs off of webOS – just like LG’s traditional TVs – allowing you to make use of the most popular streaming apps right on the device without any additional setup. With many people watching their content solely through apps like Netflix and Hulu, the fact that you can get things up and running right out of the box is definitely a benefit to this LG 4K projector.

The “Affordable” Option

While LG has marketed their projector as being affordable yet high-end, that statement should be taken with a grain of salt. With the majority of “affordable” 4K projectors costing around $2000, it’s likely that the LG 4K projector will still be extremely expensive when compared to a regular TV. Still, there are a number of benefits that a projector offers, and we could be pleasantly surprised by the price tag – but we aren’t getting our hopes up. 4K has been around for a while at this point, and LG has actually revealed the first 8K TV just a few days ago; as such, it’s definitely possible that the technology will become more affordable as research advances and the price of implementing cutting-edge features decreases.

We’ll likely learn more about the LG 4K projector at CES in just a few days. Whether or not that elaboration includes an actual price remains to be seen.
